I know this post will be met by some negative comments but too bad............The following prayer was broadcast to the American people by President
Roosevelt on D-Day, June 6,1944. With our armed forces once again in the
field, opposing another tyrant, this prayer is appropriate for Americans
to offer up for the courageous young people who are risking their lives
in defense of freedom and the flag.
" Almighty God: our sons and daughters, pride of our nation, have set
upon a mighty endeavor, a struggle to protect our Republic and our
civilization, and to set free the suffering
.
Lead them straight and true; give strength to their arms, stoutness to
their hearts and steadfastness to their faith.
For these men and women fight not for the lust of conquest. They fight
to liberate. They fight to let justice arise, and tolerance and good
will among all thy people. Some will never return. Embrace these,
Father, and receive them, thy heroic servants, into thy kingdom.
And, Lord, give us faith. Give us faith in thee, faith in our sons and
daughters, faith in each other. Let not the keeness of our spirit ever
be dulled. Let not the impact of temporary events deter us in our
unconquerable purpose
With thy blessing, we shall prevail over the unholy forces of our
enemy.
Thy will be done, Almighty God."
Amen
