So...we're in Baghdad. What are everyone's thoughts/feelings about that?I watched the news today. The Iraqie people seem to be very happy. They tried to pull down Sadam's statue but couldn't quite do it on their own but then with the US troops help they did. They dragged the head of Sadam's statue around the city. They seem very happy to see the end of his regime. Where's Sadam now? Where's his Minister of "Mis" Information? Yesterday I watched reporters, reporting from the inside of one of Sadam's palaces. Bathrooms with 24 crt gold plated taps ...still with the labels on - which would indicate they have never been used. Compare that with the scenes we've seen of the Iraqie people scrambling for food and water - some of who live in extreme poverty. What do you think about all of this? Sue IP: Logged |

not much different from any other tin-pot dictatorship - i hardly think the misdistribution of wealth is peculiar to iraq.Hrrm..maybe military intelligance (heehee) could tell us where saddam is? IP: Logged |

Bittersweet--happy and hopeful for their future, but also sad at the suffering and loss of lives to gain it.Looting buildings of the deceased and cheering the death of others (even if those "others" were considered monsters) has always bothered me. Just something about it gives me the creeps. Perhaps, if I were suppressed and tortured, etc., as supposedly a lot of these people were, I would see things differently. I wasn't too keen on the reports that American soldiers were going in and taking stuff from the palace. As for the "missing" folks, they probably tossed their military uniforms for civilian clothes and joined in with the others! (Just kidding, sort of, I wonder where they all suddenly disappeared to as well). It's possible our MI has ideas of their whereabouts.

I cried when I saw the children released from prison. Children for God/Goddess sake in prison... My heart just aches for all. juniperb IP: Logged |

Hi Sue. I was glad to see some of those happy faces on TV today. I mean if we can't all agree on whether we should have gone to war I'm sure most people are happy that the Iraqis are free from Saddam and his regime. As for the Minister of misinformation, I hate to say it but he was almost like comic relief....a Las Vegas act. IP: Logged |

I agree... it's been sad with ALL of the casualties. The happy faces?! Hey, did we ever have any doubts?!.. Saw on the news that an Iraqi civilian man was wanting to find an American soldier to marry his daughter. IP: Logged |

It did please me to see so many happy people, but I am very disturbed by all the casualties. I just hope to God we got Saddam!------------------ food is the only art that nourishes! IP: Logged |

I'm scared. It's too quiet there. Just about no resistance at all? All those tunnels and bunkers under the city. Why do I have a feeling that there's just a mass of troops under that city, waiting until we get a false sense of security, then attack. I'm afraid. I'm afraid for our soldiers and for the Iraqi celebrants. I feel that something awful is still to come. However, I am pleased and relieved to see how the Iraqi people reacted to our troops. It confirms in my mind that, on some level, we have started something good for these people. I hope that we follow through all the way on this one. That we don't just pull out and leave them in this disarray. IP: Logged |

There really weren't all that many casualties.By history's standards this war is not even a war, the casualities equal more like one day, of one battle, in a long war. Hopefully, the US military has enough intelligence to keep everything under wraps & in control... I hope IP: Logged |

Hi Sue,I thought it very interesting that the great joy and celebration by the Iraqis was done on Linda Goodman's birthday. What an appropriate celebration for her day of birth, regarding the principles she so believed in. Donna IP: Logged |

Hi Donna Yes that is very interesting and here's another interesting thing. On the same day (9th) my ex agreed to a settlement (after 3 and a half years of legals). It's not absolutely legally final yet (hopefully will be tomorrow). But I was also thinking what an amazing day. Sue IP: Logged |
