I've been thinking heavily upon this war, and I'm only becoming more and more troubled by it. We invaded another country, and I am not convinced our motives were pure. Yes, I cannot argue that a wicked man seems to have been removed from power. I am sure that many terrorists are feeling the fear of American Power ..... or perhaps their anger is stirred. Saddam perhaps is alive and has joined these terrorists. Or maybe he's hiding in Iran, and now we will war with them. But these things are not my chief concerns, that trouble me, that distract my thoughts. He who wins writes the history. Again, and again, and again, this simple truth swirls in my mind, taunting at me like an echo in a deep cavern that will not stop. And we're writing a history that does not capture the truth. We will write how armed with the might of God, and the right of truth, and the light of Good, we advanced on Satan himself and squashed him like a worthless maggot. We may even say that is okay to an arrogant American, because the French are French, and now we have "Freedom" Fries. We will teach this to our children. Just as we taught them about the commie ******** in the Soviet Union. Just as we taught them that our concentration camps to coral Nisei (Japanese Americans) were better than Nazi camps because at least we didn't use toxic gas on them. We found better, morally-upstanding ways to squelch their sense of being. We taught that blacks were less than whites. We taught about the savage ways of the red-men who came before us. Across the ocean and through the mists of time, we taught how vile and reprehensible the Arabs were, and declared a Crusade (with the might of God, and the right of Truth and the Light of Good). We taught that the old ways were the Devil's ways, and that it was okay to do devilish misdeeds against witches and druids and pagans. And because we won in the end, we write about in ancient times how we were persecuted, and held down by oppressive powers. Alas, if Rome had won the battle against Christians and managed to throw us all to the lions ... we would learn now how we were persecuted, we would learn how an "uprising of religious fanatics were squandered, thusly maintaining the integrity of the fabric of society." He who wins writes the history. The West calls me a Lion. The East calls me a Tiger. The Moon burns at me from Aries. The Lost Zodiac declares me the Great Bear. I will fight this fight, and encourage you all to fight with me. And we will win. And then we will do something completely different. I see Libra up there, giving that dimpled smile of agreement. We will stand out of the Light, and let the people write the history. ------------------ "The reason why birds can fly and man cannot is simply that they have perfect faith; for to have faith is to have wings." ~JM Barrie IP: Logged |

i agree im almost sure we don't know whats REALLY going on beneath the facade of current events today, and it is more than possible that we never will. im trying to pay close attention, so that at least i will be a witness to these events and can tell my children and grandchilden what i saw nad experienced before they learn about it in "history" class. the people who write these books for children are shameless, because they REALLY do write lies that are never corrected until/unless the student reaches college, perhaps not even then ... by which time, it may be too late to change the way they see the world. columbus was a virtuous man, believing in a ideal new world? the indians were the frontier terrorists? washington chopped down the cherry tree, but couldn't tell a lie? in the north, the confederates were anarchist rebels hell bent on destroying the country, and maybe still are... in the south, the yankees were heartless oppressors, hell bent on destroying their way of life, and maybe still are... it's not even necessary for us to win to be able to write history our way, we just need resources to do it and power and influence for no one to object.
