Did anyone do anything for it today? I consciously tried not to waste printing paper at work today...but I still forgot my mug and drank out of numerous styrofoam cups.

No one will probably answer this thread. Maybe I shoudl stop drinking wine during the week.

Even though I am a conservative and to most people that would translate as someone that hates the environment, I do the following:

Never buy or use styrfoam unless I have to (I have my water glass and coffee mug here at work).

I conserve water, only run the laundry when it's full and same for the dishwasher (must be from growing up in drought prone Cali).

I recycle: plastic, bottles and cans as well as newspapers and use old paper for scratch paper.

My hairspray is pump and I drive a car that gets good mileage.

I believe littering is completely digusting and it always turns my stomach to see some dork throw trash or cigarette butts out the window.

To me, everyday it Earth day, but I still think we impose too strict of rules on numerous companies for the sake of emotions.

I'd like to see the UN crack down on countries like China and Mexico that have so much pollution they have to wear bandanas over their mouths to filter out the smog, fuel and other pollution.

Most of all, I am really tired of seeing pollution spewing cars like old model VW bugs and vans, trucks and old model Buicks out on the road with stupid "Save the Earth" stickers, when they are causing more pollution than 10 SUV's.

So, now I am off my soap box.

I recycle newspapers, magazines, aluminum cans and plastic containers.

Had a lake clean-up weekend recently. You would be amazed at the trash that was pulled out!

Gee, since moving up here in the mountains, I never know when special "days" come around. I suppose every day is Earth Day here at the cabin. Our water comes from a spring-fed well. We live so far from a city that our garbage gets picked up privately, which means we have to separate and recycle everything. Our home business recycles all wrapping materials. Our car has been broken down for two months, so we've been walking two miles every day or so to the little village at the bottom of the hill and catching a bus that comes by down the road once a day (about twice a month) to go into town so I can buy pet food and a little poultry and fish. We have no dishwasher except me and our washing machine is handmade and hand-used.

It isn't easy up here, and we're isolated, but it's a nice place to be.

Pid I grew up in south cali, I know that mode. That was good, we are not like that here in florida, I should get back doing that. I remember those showers that never lasted more than 5 minutes! LA Baby!

Well, I have to confess, that I do love looooooooong hot showers. But, most of the time I opt for a long hot bath, but still....if I had the choice between chocolate and a hot shower, I would choose the later for total decadence.
