Read the paper indeed. And when you read this one, perhaps you'll come away with an understanding of at least one reason most reasonable people, Democrats and Republicans alike, despise the far left.

That's heart breaking. No matter what side someone is on the war, it is just EVIL to celebrate the death of one of our own like that.

What is truly in the hearts and minds of an organization or group that spews this hate of our soldiers? It is just sickening.

I won't defend such vile garbage as tearing down the memory of a soldier killed in battle. It's disgusting.

I will defend Indymedia, however. Granted, it's open newswire policy opens the door to anyone to post anything and therefore some really extreme viewpoints get posted, many of which I would not agree with- however that's no reason to throw out the baby with the bathwater. Indymedia has also proven an arena for people to report events that pass below the regular media's radar yet nevertheless really need coverage. Wading through some of the garbage that gets posted can be a headache even for me at times (and I'm unabashedly radical leftist in many respects) but there are jewels of information to be found there.

I am disgusted by this kind of hypocritical idiocy. This was just one soldier amongst thousands who have served our country during this war, and also just one of the many that have died as well. Yes, part of his death is related to his choice to fight for his country, but I am amazed that people who supposedly want to achieve peace for all would have the gall to revel in death and violence on any side. They have the right to say whatever the want and I will always respect that ... but they have that right thanks to the hundreds of thousands of people who have fought and still fight to defend this country against those who would threaten it and its freedoms. These men and women dying in service to our country also have families and loved ones that they leave behind and no one deserves to have the memory of their loved ones attacked, tainted and besmirched, especially not because of ignorant assumptions of what lead to that tragedy and why. It is sick. If they want to cheer at death then they do not belong on the side of the Americans or the Iraqis ... they belong on the side of the terrorists and Hussein.

i agree, too, that this sort of behavior is fierce. people who spew caustic and immature babble like that - from either side of the spectrum - make it doubly hard to enagage in constructive conversation. like harpyr pointed out, it's important to be able to share information freely, but just what do they think they're going to accomplish with that? geez.

tillman sounds like he had the kind of integrity we'd be lucky for all our soldiers to have. whether or not people agree with the reason for us being in afghanistan and iraq there's no need to "celebrate a death," as pidua said.

it's unfortunate, as we see so often even at this site, that free speech doesn't mean that people have to think very hard before they speak.

not all lefties are bad (nor are they all communists )

OK most is a relative and inclusive term. Do you insist on being individaully polled?

Do you think your vote would change the outcome?

you talking to me jw?

Na, my vote wouldn`t make much of a difference but By being polled, I`d believe that these polls actually exist!

Hmmm, I don't think the division is anywhere close to being even.

Perhaps I should have phrased it differently and said most reasonable people, Democrats and Republicans alike despise the rhetoric of the far left.

Geez Pid, what kind of place is that?

Juniperb, yep I was talking to you and Pid.

cucaracha what is it?

Look at the different answers jwhop. The Sag believes the exist and they can make a difference while the Aqua don`t believe they exist outside of the media.

Want to throw in Leo`s onion.

God.dess I love diversity!!

Fair enough indeed but you forget, it isn't the right that attacks the essence of the individual. That makes it very personal and the incessant attacks against the right to even breathe the air comes from the left.

Those on the right focus on the policy and not on the individual.
