I think if the US announced we were pulling out of Iraq, there would be a hue and cry from the Iraqis who know they are not in any position to resist either a return of the Baathist regime who has all the weapons or invaders from Iran and/or Syria. The Kurds would immediately secede and form a separate country which would really tick off Turkey too.

All their rhetoric is good theater though and it sells a lot of newspapers in the US and TV adverting on the 6pm news.
