Bush misspeaks, says his administration seeking 'new ways to harm our country'

The Associated Press
8/5/04 1:48 PM

WASHINGTON (AP) -- President Bush offered up a new entry for his catalog of "Bushisms" on Thursday, declaring that his administration will "never stop thinking about new ways to harm our country and our people."

Bush misspoke as he delivered a speech at the signing ceremony for a $417 billion defense spending bill.

"Our enemies are innovative and resourceful, and so are we," Bush said. "They never stop thinking about new ways to harm our country and our people, and neither do we."

No one in Bush's audience of military brass or Pentagon chiefs reacted.

The president was working his way toward a larger point. "We must never stop thinking about how best to defend our country. We must always be forward-thinking," he said.

White House spokesman Scott McClellan said Bush's misstatement "just shows even the most straightforward and plain-spoken people misspeak."

"But the American people know this president speaks with clarity and conviction, and the terrorists know by his actions he means it," McClellan said.

--------------------------------------------

Now that's what I like to see, a leader that never ceases to reinvent himself!

It seems to me that it's not too hard to "have the goods" on the Bush Adiminstration, at least not when you get the information offered to you straight up!

Who are you going to believe, me or the source?

tee hee hee...

I love Bushisms! They're an endless source of entertainment! My favorite one is, "There's an old saying in Tennessee - I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee - that says, fool me once, shame on - shame on you. Fool me - you can't get fooled again."

I'm just even surprised on how Scott McClellan got to vow for Bush, take a closer look on what the White House spokesman said and I think that even THAT says it all!

It just goes to show that even our government doesn't like us anymore, can you blame them? How would you like it if you were running a country full of people that were doing evil and wicked things like upholding Democracy, living in freedom, caring for our environment and providing any kind of humanitarian efforts towards others and such?

Here's another Bushism....

"Anyway, I'm so thankful, and so gracious - I'm gracious that my brother Jeb is concerned about the hemisphere as well." -George W. Bush, June 4, 2001

Love,
Rainbow

That one's my favorite too, Librasparkle. But Rainbow's is a close second.

Sometimes he almost sounds ... dare I say it ... drunk. At least that's usually how I sound.

Yeah... Bushisms are the greatest. There are so many to choose from.

What about Clintonisms?

When Clinton was asked what he thought about foreign affairs, he replied,
"I don't know. I never had one."

Clinton's Revised judicial oath: "I solemnly swear to tell the truth as I Know it,
the whole truth, as I believe it to be, and nothing but what I think you
need to know."
(this could really apply to any of 'em)
