Who do you guys think would make good Moderators for this Forum (on each side, or maybe neutral)?------------------ "Never mentally imagine for another that which you would not want to experience for yourself, since the mental image you send out inevitably comes back to you." Randall that's a tough one, I like Jwhop a lot, but I'm afraid that he might scare people away. But I like taking chances, so I would give Jwhop a nod, he may have trouble being neutral though, I don't know. It's up to you Randall. -StarLover IP: Logged |

I don't want to name names, but I think a Mod has to know their own mind, while allowing others to do the same, even if on a totally different wave-length.And they also need to gently remind people when they're forgetting to be respectful. *IMO* IP: Logged |

Yes, there is a very strict "respect" policy on this forum that the moderator has to uphold. Lioneye, what does *IMO* mean? -StarLover IP: Logged |

Or a panel: One from the Left, one from the Right and one from the middle. That way each can bring in a perspective. Any "one" sided moderator will cause a shift towards that side or possibly alienate others, whereas a panel will cause a consensus to review what is said and keep things in check. I like jwhop or isis for the right I can't really nominate anyone from the left because I am not of that persuasion LOL... LibraSparkle is pretty middle of the road. I would say Trillian too, but I don't know if she would want to partake in it. ~pidaua IP: Logged |

How about Rainbow and Trillian to represent the left? Great idea, it will certainly keep this forum in check. Jwhop and Isis on the Right. Rainbow and Trillian on the Left. Or is there anyone else who would like to take those positions? Jwhop, Isis, Rainbow, and Trillian? (Hey look, the four quarters.) It's still up to Randall though. -StarLover IP: Logged |

My vote: Someone who is not politically inclined, who can keep from restricting freedom to express oneself while maintaining a level of civility, someone who is not easily intimidated, but I almost think a total and complete disinterest in politics would be best - then there wouldn't be a risk of picking on one group or the other, and the reprimands for just plain rudeness, etc, would be above reproach. That's just my 2.375375375 cents ------------------ “The good things which belong to prosperity are to be wished, but the good things that belong to adversity are to be admired.” Seneca IP: Logged |

StarLover....thanks....but Rainbow says "No thank you!"......(before anybody else gets a chance to snicker at the very idea of ME being a moderator...) ....and even if it were a nice, calm, harmless, little forum...I would still say no, as I could never committ myself to being a moderator of any forum...too much work...(and you know how the "left" feels about "work"... ) How about yourself? Do you consider yourself neutral? I think you would be good moderator.. Love, Rainbow IP: Logged |

Hi Randall, If I may be so bold as to say so, I think I would be a good moderator for this forum, since in most cases I am able to view both sides of an argument equally and with relatively little emotion. Of course, I have my views, but I try to remain unattached to them to the greatest extent possible. That being said, I am not sure I really could be a moderator anyway, since my work takes up so much of my time lately....Also I am not very computer savvy. I hope I am not perceived as riding too high on my horse but I do happen to think neutrality is one of my strengths. I am not sure anyone else on this site knows me well enough to really agree or disagree on this point..... Oh well, I am sure whatever you decide will be best... IP: Logged |

I thought both lioneye and starlover made a very good point about upholding mutual respect around this place. It DOES frighten people off, and while some might find that sort of thing entertaining, the forum is called Global Unity, not Political Dissention.Quiksilver's a pretty derned neutral choice and has a good sensitivity and sense of fairness. For what MO is worth. daf IP: Logged |

What does a moderator do besides edit and ban? .... well, and police?I trust that any of the people mentioned could be ... not to use an over used statemnet, but... fair and balanced. There are clear lines that cannot be crossed. I don't think political offiliation really makes a difference. I don't doubt that jwhop would put someone in their place for verbally attacking a Libral. On the flip side, I don't think 26T would allow the same kind of treatment directed at a Conservative. Besides, it's not like Randall isn't in here all the time to watch the watchers IP: Logged |
