Not bloody likely. While Kerry lambasts the so called rich...making $200K a year, he and Queen Teresa are paying a pitance in taxes on a hugh income...and most of it undeclared. Now, that's income tax evasion..unless the income is from a tax free vehicle...like some tax free bonds.I guess we won't ever find that out because Kerry is hiding his wife's tax return...or at least the pages that matter. Of course, Kerry is hiding his military records too, so what else is new? Saturday, Oct. 16, 2004 10:02 a.m. EDT Heinz Kerry Hiding $45 Million in Income, Paid Just 1.2 Percent in Taxes Teresa Heinz Kerry earns approximately $50 million in annual income, 10 times what she revealed on tax forms released late Friday, according to the New York Times. The staggering sum generated a mere 1.2 percent federal income tax liability, unless Heinz Kerry paid additional federal taxes not shown on the forms released Friday. The average middle class American family pays 20 percent of its income in taxes, a rate 16 times higher than the would-be first family. Noting that the Kerry campaign has not challenged an estimate earlier this year that Heinz Kerry's net worth is close to $1 billion, the Times said Saturday, "Even a modest 5 percent return would have generated $50 million of income." Tax forms released Friday show she paid a puny $628,000 in income taxes. While that figure represents 12.3 percent of the $5 million annual income disclosed on the documents, that number would decline to 1.2 percent when calculated against the Times' income estimate for Heinz Kerry.
The $45 million in income not disclosed by Heinz Kerry was likely derived from Heinz family trusts that benefit the would-be first couple. Portions of Heinz Kerry's tax return not made public would detail her personal investment accounts, accounts controlled by the family trust and any offshore investments she controls, the Times said. Financial experts cited by the New York Post on Saturday said that the Kerry family's reported $5 million annual income wouldn't come close to covering their lavish lifestyle, which includes five estates; multiple cars; a $3.5 million Gulfstream V jet complete with plasma TV, gold fixtures and two bathrooms; a yacht worth $750,000 to $1 million and servants in every location. http://www.newsmax.com/archives/ic/2004/10/16/100321.shtml IP: Logged |

Contrast that with Reagan--who legally avoided taxes by having a cattle ranch (a legitimate tax shelter)--but who felt bad about his low liability and donated money to the treasury. ------------------ "Never mentally imagine for another that which you would not want to experience for yourself, since the mental image you send out inevitably comes back to you." hehehe, compare the Kerry tax return to the Bush tax return.Kerry earned $395,000 in 1993 and paid tax of $90,000, a tax rate of 22% when adjusted for deductions. Bush earned $727,093 in 1993 and paid tax of $227,490, a tax rate of 31.2% when adjusted for deductions. Now, who is it that constantly harps about tax cuts for the rich, then pays the lesser percentage of tax on his own income? No other than John Heinz Kerry. Now, who is it who's married to a woman whose personal fortune is estimated to be between 1 and 3 Billion dollars. And who is it who pays on her own personal income tax returns a percentage estimated by major media to be 1.2% of her annual income..for 2003? One of those rich people, Teresa Kerry, who Kerry constantly criticizes as not paying their fair share. Hey, do as I say, not as I do! Sound familiar? IP: Logged |

Just concerned about your health. You know, too much thinking and all...no insult. When I thought too much about good and evil in our government, I was extremely stressed. IP: Logged |

Thank you for your concern for my health Philbird. However, I would point out to you that the ability to actually "think" IS an indication of good health. It is the nature of government that no matter what government does, there will be those who will see it as evil and those who will see it as good. Perspective is everything. IP: Logged |

In light of the current tax-the-rich media coverage, this string is worth noting.IP: Logged | |
