A friend emailed John Kerry's resume to me recently and the instructions were to pass it along. Immediately, I thought of you.

BTW, who knew John Kerry served 4 months in Vietnam?

NAME: John Kerry

RESIDENCE: 7 mansions, including one in Washington DC, worth multi-millions. I served in Vietnam (four months).

EXPERIENCE:
Law Enforcement. In my career as a U.S. Senator, I've voted to cut every law enforcement, CIA, and Defense bill. I ordered the city of Boston to remove a fire hydrant in front of my mansion, thereby endangering my neighbors in the event of fire. I served in Vietnam (four months).

MILITARY:
I served in Vietnam (four months). I used three minor injuries to get an early discharge from the military and service in Vietnam (as documented by the attending doctor). I served in Vietnam (four months). I then returned to the U.S., joined Jane Fonda in protesting the war, and insulted returning Vietnam vets, claiming they committed atrocities and were baby killers. I served in Vietnam (four months). I threw my medals, ribbons, or something away in protest. Or did I? My book "Vietnam Veterans Against the War: The New Soldier", shows how I truly feel about the military. I served in Vietnam (four months).

COLLEGE:
I graduated from Yale University with a low C average. Unlike my counterpart George Bush, I have no higher education and did not get admitted to Harvard nor graduate with an M.B.A

PAST WORK EXPERIENCE:
After College and Vietnam, I ran for the U.S. Congress and have been there ever since. I have no real world experience except marrying very rich women and running their companies vicariously through them. I served in Vietnam (four months).

ACCOMPLISHMENTS:
As a U.S. Senator I set the record for the most liberal voting record, exceeding even Ted Kennedy and Hillary Clinton. I have consistently failed to support our military and CIA by voting against their budgets, thus gutting our country's ability to defend itself. Although I voted for the Iraq War, now I am against it and refuse to admit that I voted for it. I voted for every liberal piece of legislation. I have no plan to help this country but I intend to raise taxes significantly if I am elected. I served in Vietnam (four months).

My wealth so far exceeds that of my counterpart, George Bush, that he will never catch up. I make little or no charitable contributions and have never agreed to pay any voluntary excess taxes in Massachusetts, despite family wealth in excess of $ 700 million. I served in Vietnam (four months).

I (we) own 28 manufacturing plants (Heinz) outside of the U.S. in places like Asia, Mexico and Europe. We can make more profit from the cheaper cost of labor in those Countries, although I blame George Bush for sending all of the other jobs out of Country. I served in Vietnam (four months).

Although I claim to be in favor of alternative energy sources, Ted Kennedy and I oppose windmills off Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard as it might spoil our view of the ocean as we cruise on our yachts. I served in Vietnam (four months).

RECORDS AND REFERENCES:
None. However, I served in Vietnam (four months).

PERSONAL I practice my Catholic faith whenever cameras are present. I ride a Serotta Bike. I love to ski/snowboard. I call my Gulfstream V Jet the "Flying Squirrel". I call my $850,000 42-foot Hinckley twin diesel yacht the "Scarmouche".

I am fascinated by rap and hip-hop and feel it reflects our real culture.

I own several "Large" SUVs including one parked at my Nantucket summer mansion, though I am against large, polluting, inefficient vehicles and blame George Bush for our energy problems. I served in Vietnam (four months).

PLEASE CONSIDER MY EXPERIENCE
WHEN VOTING IN 2004, AND PLEASE PASS THE INFORMATION ON TO YOUR FRIENDS!!

In the 18 months following the 911 attacks I have successfully prevented any public investigation into the biggest security failure in the history of the United States.

Removed more freedoms and civil liberties for Americans than any other president in US history.

In a little over two years created the most divided country in decades, possibly the most divided the US has ever been since the civil war.

The continued trashing and bashing of both candidates serves no real purpose here.
While it can be entertaining to read, it has become a bit tired. At the very least, just for a change of pace, let's try to think of some good things to say about the boys. Neither of them are 100% pure evil.

One good thing about John Kerry - He's a better speaker.

One good thing about Dubya - He's easier on the eyes (in my humble opinion!)

Granted, some of these people may have been bad. BUT the it has NEVER been proven that the capital punishment has any effect one way or the other on violent crime. It is quite fallible, in fact.

Since 1973, over 80 people have been released from death row with evidence of their innocence.

Researchers Radelet & Bedau found 23 cases since 1900 where innocent people were executed.

Retiring Florida Supreme Court Justice Gerald Kogan said he had "grave doubts" about the guilt of some of the people executed in Florida: "There are several cases where I had grave doubts as to the guilt of a particular person." . Kogan was a former homicide detective and prosecutor before eventually rising to Chief Justice.

The number of innocent defendants released from death row has been steadily increasing over recent years. Between 1973 and October, 1993, there was an average of 2.5 innocent defendants released. Since then, the average has increased to 4.6 released per year.

According to a 1987 study, three hundred and fifty people convicted of capital crimes in the United States between 1900 and 1985 were innocent of the crimes charged. Some prisoners escaped execution by minutes, but 23 were actually executed.

One of the most comprehensive studies on the death penalty in the country found the death penalty to cost North Carolina $2.16 million per execution over the costs of a non-death penalty murder case with a sentence of imprisonment for life.

On a national basis, this translates to an extra cost of over $1 billion dollars since 1976.

In Texas, a death penalty case costs an average of $2.3 million, which is about three times the cost of imprisoning someone in a single cell with the highest level of security for forty years.

A 1998 report from the Nebraska Judiciary Committee states that any savings from executing an inmate are outweighed by the financial legal costs. The report concluded that the current death penalty law does not serve the best interest of Nebraskans.

The Judicial Conference of the United States reported that the defense costs in cases where death was sought were about four times higher than in comparable cases where death was not sought. It was also found that the prosecution costs in death cases were 67% higher than the defense costs, without even including the investigative costs provided by law enforcement agencies.

Quik, I agree with you that the bashing of the candidates grows tiring. This has been the dirtiest campaign I have ever seen. But if you go back and look at all his past campaigns, even for the nomination of the Republican Party in 2000, you will have to admit it is Bush's campaign tactic to smear the character of his opponents. He did the same thing to John McCain who was running against him for the Presidential nomination as he is doing to Kerry. It is the way he is as a person or he would not do that in every campaign.

The Republican smear machine never stops and they are not even concerned with whether it is the truth or not. They have accused John Kerry of everything but kicking his mother down the stairs. Jwhop keeps putting smear posts in this forum about Kerry from Newsmax and many of them are just laughable and completely off the wall. Just as the Democrats are fighting back against the Republican smear campaign by coming out with information that discredits what Bush has said and points out where it is the pot calling the kettle black that is what Kerry supporters have been doing on this forum.

Two wrongs don't make a right and I regret that the whole campaign has deteriorated to back and forth attacks but it was the Republicans who began the campaign with smears on John Kerry's war record and they have never let up. They set the tone for the campaign as such so they could avoid having to address the real issues. It's a distraction aimed at the voters just as the Iraq war and the war on terrorism was used as a distraction so that Bush could force his legislation through Congress for his own agendas behind the backs of the American people in most cases. Watch my right hand so you don't know or see what left hand is doing.

What would you have the Democrats and Kerry do if not counteract Bush's lies and smears? What would you have Kerry's supporters do when they hear or see things that they know not to be true? Just let it lie and say nothing to dispute it? If the smearing and lies are not addressed then it misleads the American people. In the case of this forum it misleads people who read these things. In short make jwhop stop it and we will too.

I will admit that both Bush and Kerry have played around with the facts regarding the issues. I know where Kerry has made statements about Bush where the facts don't exactly match what he says and I know where Bush has done the same thing to Kerry. That sort of thing happens in every political campaign. The facts are always distorted. But the smear campaign being waged by Bush and his supporters goes beyond decency.

Just yesterday I got an email from a Christian group saying that Kerry was excommunicated by the Roman Catholic church for his position on abortion which is just a total out and out lie. If they had any knowledge of Church teaching they would know better. For an organization that presents itself as Christian to do that is just horrible and it is also a very unchristian thing to do. So apparently they are not above out and out lying to promote their own agenda either. The Catholic Church is not in the business of excommunicating people for following their conscience. Besides, I happen to know that Cardinal Joseph Ratszinger who is head of the Congregation of the Divine Faith at the Vatican and represents the Vatican's stance on this election came out and said this:

According to a report by Catholic News Service, Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger recently issued a memorandum that said it is not necessarily sinful for Catholics to vote for politicians who support abortion, as long as they are voting for that candidate for other reasons. Ratzinger is head of the Vatican's Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith.

Besides all this, Kerry never said he was personally in favor of abortion as this Christian group and the RNC and Bush would have them believe. He never gave his own personal opinion about abortion at all. Kerry never said that in the debate in answer to the questions. What he did say is that while he is a Roman Catholic and his faith is big part of all he does, as President he would be the President of all the people and therefore could make no legislation concerning abortion. He was honest about it. He did imply though that having been raised in the Church and having been an altar boy he was formed by Church teaching regarding abortion. That is as close as he came to giving what his own personal opinion regarding abortion may be. And I agree with him about keeping moral mattters out of the hands of government because the government is designed to represent ALL of the American people. But the church postition on that would be that Kerry IS following his faith because he IS following his conscience which they deem the higher law and no man's land because the conscience is between God and the person and is not to be interfered with. The small group of bishops who came out and said that it would be a sin to vote for Kerry are more in danger of being excommunicated than Kerry is because they are not speaking for the Church but in fact going against what the Church said to promote their own agenda.

58 Karla Tucker 02/03/1998 - Libra, this is the one that really bothers me. I saw a documentary on the life of Karla Tucker and it covered the crime she committed, the trial and her conversion to Christianity while on death row. The murder she committed was no doubt brutal and senseless. She admitted that she should be punished for it after her conversion. If you saw that documentary and you saw what Karla Tucker looked like and talked like at her arrest and trial and then you saw her years later after her conversion you could easily see the difference in her countenance and how she spoke. You could see it in her eyes! It was like a completely different woman. I had no doubt of her conversion and neither did any of her jailors or lawyers. Neither did the group that worked for her clemancy.

Bush was governor and Karla's lawyers put her case before him to reduce her sentence to life in prison. Bush, a man who goes around telling everyone about his conversion and how Christianity changed him, would not believe that it could do the same for anyone else. Him yes. Karla Tucker no. And she was not asking to be released from prison. Just not to be lethally injected. What bothered me about it and stuck in my mind to this day was Bush's reaction to the question by the press when asked by a reporter what he thought Karla Tucker would say to him. Bush replied in a mocking tone as if she was begging, "she would probably say, 'please, oh please don't kill me.' " Then he laughed. That was in my mind a heartless and cruel thing to say about a woman who was about to die by lethal injection and who had claimed the same conversion as he goes around claiming all the time. I could see the conversion in Karla Faye Tucker the woman he refused clemancy to, but I have never seen the conversion in Bush and certainly not in those words and actions.

Quik, I would give you something good about Bush if I could think of something. But just as he cannot think of one mistake he has ever made, I cannot find one redeeming quality in the man. And that is being as honest as can be. His actions are what I base that opinion of him on. The one I just related which I saw him say in the documentary and is on film, shows how much compassion he has. It was the action and words of a sociopath.

Mirandee.....I LOVE YOU!

You have so clearly expressed my views.

Thank you for reminding us of Karla Faye Tucker and how bush, while governor of Texas not only allowed her death to take place, but made fun of her ta boot...This shows real character in a man! (I got my first inklings back then, to just what kind of man this was)

Karla Faye Tucker

Granted, Karla was not innocent of the crime she was charged with....but she was a totally changed person years later...I noticed it too...anyone who saw her couldn't help but notice. I saw her on TBN talking with Jan Crouch, and I saw her on Larry King Live...

I've brought it up on this forum before as I was truly moved by her conversion...which was so very obvious....she just radiated when she spoke about her love for Jesus...she shone...her eyes sparkled she was totally different than the drugged out messed up woman who was sent to prison...and as you say, I see nothing - NOTHING AT ALL in dubya's face that gives any indication that he's found that peace that Karla found, even tho he claims to be a Christian.

I see nothing in his "Ted Bundy type face," but cockiness, arrogance and a puffed up sense of omnipotence!

So glad to have you posting on this forum.

Welcome!

Your ability to see things so clearly and your courage to post your views here, is something that has been long needed..as most people who are anti-bush stay away from GU and do most of their posting on the other forums, just to keep the peace I would guess...I left for awhile...as I was chewed up and spit out several times...for daring to speak the truth about bush and his cronies...*sigh*

Love,
Rainbow

Mirandee, I invite you to find one thing I've said about John Kerry that is NOT true and post it right here

Did I mention that I read that Conservatives get angry when someone lies about them and Liberals get mad when someone tells the truth about them?

Rainbow, Tucker was guilty. Tucker admitted she committed a most horrible murder.

Governor Bush could not have commuted her sentence to execution. Such commutations are not within the power of the Governor of Texas...AND YOU KNOW THAT BECAUSE I'VE TOLD YOU BEFORE AND SHOWED IT TO YOU.

Nevertheless, keep it up because any reasonable person who reads your nonsense will recognize immediately how radical and unreasonable Kerry supporters really are...and not only that, but how far they will go to smear the President with lies.

Wow, JW... you really are a Republican. If you have nothing of real value to add, muckrake. That's really all a Republican like you is good for. Slinging $h!t.

Where did you get the proof that you offered, jwhop. I was not here then.

It is ONLY the governor of the state where the execution is set who can offer a stay in execution, jwhop. What exempted Bush from doing that? Was he skipping out on taking responsibility again?

Thank you for your kind words, Rainbow.

I like the picture. That is the way she looked in the documentary.

She admitted she was guilty, jwhop and that she should be punished. She was not asking to get out of prison. Only for life in prison in exchange for leathel injection. Not too much to ask was it?

All of it jwhop. It would be far too lengthy to post here. Just go back and read your posts. You haven't said one true thing about him. You just repeat the Newsmax and Bush smears. In your mind I'm sure if they say it then it has to be true in spite of all evidence to the contrary.

The Governor of Texas, has the authority to grant a one-time 30-day stay of execution to let the Paroles Board reconsider it's decision.

He could have done that, and given Karla another 30 days to live, not to mention time for the Paroles Board to reconsider......(which they may have done....who knows?)
but no! he didn't even do that....he would rather get his rocks off envisioning her pleading to him (Mr. Omnipotence), for her life, with "Oh please don't kill me." (it's said that he sneared, when he made this comment)...

(Well Mr. Governor dude, you have the power. It's in your hands........and speaking of power....just wait til you get to be president! You can really throw your power around, then!)

Makes me sick!

Quote from a CNN News article on Karla Faye Tucker:

Only the possibility of a last-minute stay by the Supreme Court, where an appeal is pending, or intervention by Texas Gov. George W. Bush stood between Tucker and the distinction of becoming the first woman executed in Texas since 1863.

I read the procedures of the State of Texas regarding clemency. No offense to Texans here but it's weird that Texas does not have a life in prison without parole law. It seems that it is either a sentence of a determined number of years or death. So that is why they did not stay her execution and reduce her sentence to life in prison. To do so would have meant that she would have been eligible for pardon in 2003.

The Governors and legislatures in the State of Texas must be kill happy or they would establish a life in prison without parole law.

From what it says above I get the distinct impression that Bush as governor could have intervened over and above the Supreme Court and the parole board.

I once heard a comedian from Texas say:

"While all over the country they are deciding whether or not to have the death penalty in my state we have a production line."
