An Impassioned Society

I dream of an emotion that fills the hearts of all.
I wonder what, is next to fall.
I question reality and try to remain objective.
But in the end, it’s all just dead perspective.
I wondered and cried,
Floundered, and almost died.

Abstraction… I find myself abstracted in the urbanscape.
The clouds float by on a beautiful blue sky.
The buildings tower far above.
Round in circles I look around.
And then I look down.
Level with the public.
The people round me,
homeless and rich,
Spange and b*tch.
A man in a gray suit, speaks to a box.
The woman walks into a store.
It snowed the night before.
I look up again,
To see the peace amidst the artificial landscape.
I wonder why, I can not fly,
To see the world from far above.

I have statement to make. I think society has lost its focus. Weather it ever had a focus or not, I don’t know, But as we advance further and further down the technological road of the future, I sometimes stop to think, when does materialism stop and life begin? We have forgotten what life is really like. Some of us have gotten so rapped up in making sure that our 401k is coming along and that there’s enough money in the bank, that we forget who we are apart from our material identity. I have asked the philosophical question “who am you” to many of my peers, and a common response is “who am I?” and a laugh.

My intention in writing this Post is to provoke thought about your personal identity. “Who am you?” People of Linda Land, what makes you tick and what is your soul’s purpose for living, not just your body's?

“We are not physical beings having a spiritual experience, but spiritual beings having a physical experience.”

I am,
Randall III

Hi Randall III,

Who am I? That is one question we should never stop asking ourselves. For my part, I view myself as someone who would like to help other people whom I come into contact with, whether it be through a simple smile or a thoughtful remark....There are many parts of the whole to an individual but I thought it would be appropriate to share this one.

Thanks for starting this thread!
