Who Is The Real Enemy?
Do you support your country even if what it does is evil?
So, what does that make you?

By John Kaminski
skylax@comcast.net

It is truly a devil of a choice.

Support American soldiers murdering innocent civilians throughout Iraq and win the hollow, uneasy applause of your neighbors?

Or do you secretly root for Iraqi civilians turned revolutionaries trying the defend their war-wracked country against the murderous Western invaders ... and risk being arrested for treason?

You've heard the stories, if you've chosen to listen. Here's today's roundup: Gunmen in American helicopters shooting a family of five trying to swim across a river while escaping the carnage in Fallujah. Or killing doctors and nurses who were trying to help those wounded by indiscriminate American bombing. Or that story of the American soldier "finishing off" an injured Iraqi man.

These are only the latest of thousands of heartless atrocities wreaked on a ravaged country by an overwhelming military force that can only be described as completely insane. Representing a country that can only be described with the same phrase. The country in question is yours. Can you deal with that?

What America is doing to Iraq is a thousand times worse than Saddam Hussein every dreamed about doing to anyone! What America is doing to Iraq is worse than any dictator, no matter how vilified, has ever done to any other country!

You've heard the pornographic tales about Abu Ghraib prison. How does it sit with you that Americans are regarded as sadistic sex perverts by the rest of the world? Judging by the behavior of American soldiers, that is what we are.

And what do you do about it? How do you react, sitting in your easy chair on Sunday watching football? Turn to your favorite Internet porn site?

Try to ignore all those stories about the election, a trickle turning into a tidal wave of evidence that shows Bush got more votes than there were voters in a number of states? But if your thought process is that evolved, you realize that overturning this recent smelly election would not solve the problem, because the guy who lost is just as much a warmonger as the guy who won.

So you go back to your football game, and maybe turn up the volume a little, just in case you have a little bit of conscience left and can hear in your mind the distant screams of women and children being cut to ribbons by American ordnance in Fallujah. And all for no good reason.

You know, the thing that really gets me about the American butchery in Iraq is that it is a well-known fact - doubted by no one - that the reasons uniformed American men and women are even in Iraq are lies. Well-established lies, proven many times. No weapons of mass destruction. And no connection to al-Qaeda (even though al-Qaeda was invented by the CIA as an excuse to make wars everywhere).

Yet it apparently has occurred to no one with any degree of power in this warped society of ours that this means all the lives we have squandered in our War of Lies in Iraq are an absolutely evil abomination, completely unnecessary, except to maintain the fiction that the lies about weapons of mass destruction and al-Qaeda somehow don't really matter, and that we can kill anybody we want at any time.

There are two ways you can look at this. If you know a little about real American history, you know we have butchered people all over the world and clothed the horrific deeds in noble rhetoric so as not to offend our bloated sense of self-worth. If you know this, then you are part of the choir I so often preach to.

But if you think America has any remaining shred of decency and honesty in the way it barges around the world, killing innocent people with impunity as it goes, then I have to tell you that in your profound and deliberate ignorance, you are an accessory to mass murder. By your silence and inaction, you are assisting in the daily murders of innocent people.

Are you too stupid to make the connection? Waging war on the basis of lies is mass murder, and you are supporting it. Could it be any clearer?

I strongly urge anyone who supports the murderous and evil American presence in Iraq to instruct their children to immediately go and start killing their own neighbors, especially if their skin is not lily white, because this is exactly what the U.S. invasion of Iraq is telling us to do. We don't need a reason to kill people, unless it's because they have something that we want.

Since Iraq has something we want - namely oil - it's OK to kill them. That's what we are teaching are children. This is no joke. That's what our children are learning. Just listen to the soldiers in Iraq describe what they are doing.

How they have unleashed their savage hatred against people who have never done a thing to hurt them.

Oh, don't argue 9/11 to me. Iraqis had nothing to do with 9/11. That atrocity wasn't carried out by Arabs, it was carried out by rich white men who pretend to be pious Christians and Jews hiding behind their billions of dollars.

For Americans, this is the profound lesson of the Iraq war. We don't need a reason to rob and kill someone anymore. Our religious president says it's the right thing to do, and has destroyed our Constitution, as well as our reputation around the world, to prove it.

And this is the lesson of 9/11. You stage a terror attack to convince the world we need to fight terror. This is what the Israelis have done over the last century to the Palestinians.

But it appears that we as a people - the American people - will never learn this lesson. Or, we will never learn it in time, anyway.

We have let our world be radically changed by a few evil, rich, white and soulless businessmen who control the information we receive and the appartus that governs us, and now we have let 200-plus years of relative freedom go down the drain simply because these men wanted to make even more money and sold us on a story that convinced us we were in danger from a foreign threat, just like they always do, just like they have always done.

They have changed the character of the world based on a big lie that we swallowed because we failed to have the courage to challenge what they said.

And look what happened. This killing will never stop, you know. The dogs of war have been unleashed. Those American kids who are doing all that killing in Iraq will bring all the stuff back home, and give it to us here.

You've heard about the plans, of course, haven't you? The economic collapse, the concentration camps for debtors and dissenters. Sure, watch your football game. It can't possibly happen here. Don't let your mind wander to the Fallujah scenario being transferred to Oakland, or Ann Arbor, or Houston.

I know, for most of you, it's already too late to change your mind. The die in cast (and the cast will soon be dead).

Paste that "Support Our Troops" ribbon on the back of your car. That way the rest of us will know you are cheering for mass murder because of reasons that are lies.

And when you look in the mirror, don't look directly into your own eyes. That's what happened to some of our soldiers who came back from Iraq, you know.

You know. Some of the ones who went down to the cellar and put a bullet into their temple.

Should your soul suddenly click on after its long period of dormancy, it could happen to you, you know.

This little snippet of an old song has been playing in my head these last few days. It reveals how old I am. Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young. 1970. "Wooden Ships."

Horror grips us as we watch you die.
All we can do is echo your anguished cries.
Stare as all human feelings die.
We are leaving - you don't need us.

America has become a nation of moral cowards and intellectual liars.

Maybe the good people should get out, while they can. A curdled country like this doesn't deserve to survive.

Actually, that list is longer now, than what I posted, since it is not really up to date. They are dying every day you know......

...but anyway, I don't see the relevance...

Our soldiers dying in Iraq have nothing to do with those dying in the WTC...

...altho I realize that some people can't see the difference with all the "brainwashing" to make them think the two are related....

But it has been rehashed and rehashed here...those who want to believe it...will

Those who don't....won't

Rainbow, saying that anyone who does not see things the way you do ("altho I realize that some people can't see the difference with all the "brainwashing" to make them think the two are related") is "brainwashed", is no different than Jwhop's general comments about "liberals".

In making such comments (liberals are stupid, conservatives are brainwashed, etc) it minimizes those people's opinions, which nobody likes, and causes defensiveness and hard feelings.

Even if I think liberals or stupid, or you think that conservatives are brainwashed, it serves no purpose to actually say so unless one's goal is to be contentious and start a fight. IMO it's unnecessary.

I'm not attacking you, nor is it my intention to berate you, but merely point out how seemingly innocuous side comments can cause a whole mountain of strife. Esp. when it comes to politics.

**Please don't come in and scream at/attack me. I am not trying to start a fight. I am trying to point out how fights get started, in the hopes that we can all learn to communicate about our political beliefs w/out pushing either other's buttons.**

First of all, let me address this:

quote:

**Please don't come in and scream at/attack me. I am not trying to start a fight. I am trying to point out how fights get started, in the hopes that we can all learn to communicate about our political beliefs w/out pushing either other's buttons.**

I'm sorry if I pushed a button....it was NOT my intention to scream at/attack you. *sigh*

(in the past I've been accused of "attacking," but if one checks the posts, they'll find that it was I, who was being attacked, and quite brutally so, I'd say)

When I mentioned the "brainwashing" thing, I was merely expressing an opinion and I thought that was permissible here.

....and my opinion is......

....when a person is told, over and over and over and over again that something is true (ie, "We invaded Iraq because they were responsible for the planes flying in the WTC buildings."), they will believe it......

When we're told over and over and over again (by those who want to convince people) that the war in Iraq is all about fighting terrorists, they will believe it...............(unless it does not make sense to them ...you know like trying to convince someone that a tomatoe is blue or the sun sets in the east..... when they know better?)

Brainwashing: The application of a concentrated means of persuasion, such as an advertising campaign or repeated suggestion, in order to develop a specific belief or motivation.

I'm sorry if you take this personally, but I stand by my statement....

Love,
Rainbow

Ps, Isis, perhaps you didn't "buy into" all the rhetoric about WHY we invaded Iraq....maybe you came to the conclusion all by yourself that we did it to get the terrorists.....if that's the case....then indeed, you were not brain washed...so don't consider yourself part of those of whom I spoke...

Yeah, entertainment is much safer topic to discuss than politics.

I am neither a democrat, nor republican, nor independent. What I wanted to say was exactly what Yeshua said "An eye for an eye makes both blind."

To take revenge for 2000 men, almost equal or more Americans paid for their life. Iraqis are not included. I was so much for Kerry when he said, "We must take help of other nations in our global fight for terrorism." Republicans still thinks that muscles, win in war. They may kill the people, but the feelings remain. The west wants a peaceful east, simply to sell more of their produces in to the markets. I don't think they really cared about democratic nation. Look at the hypocricy when they pay billions of dollars to a dictator led country "Pakistan".

I think, a truly democratic system country exists no where. America that became symbol of liberty is now becoming symbol of double standards. All thing that rises fall down. Its just a matter of time. And such double standard policies make that time come soon.

Well the people were given a choice and they decided already. Lets wait for the outcome. When Yeshua visited Jerusalem on a donkey, the local jews were given a choice. To accept him or see destruction of the temple city. Many years later, Jerusalem indeed fell to so many invaders.

Well, sometimes I wonder, if everything is predestined and we are just puppets and every one plays their role. If it is so lets forget what I said, learn and respect each others thoughts and move on. There are more important things than to disagree on each others opinions.

--My first reaction was well if Saddam has indeed conspired, that he must be brought to justice. But with the help of international community. I think there are a lot of support for Iraq now in international more than before. In the age of aquarian the meek would be favored than the strong. The whole would be favored than the single.

PEACE and LOVE.

I'm sure some of you here, have children or grandchildren who could be "eligible" for this useless slaughter in a few years (if this ugly thing escalate the way the one in Viet Nam did)

I do not want his named added to that list.....

I have a granddaughter who just turned 11...

God forbid?

I don't think anyone questioned the facts behind the names.

We DO have ultimate respect for the dead to imply that our fact finding would in any way be directed towards degrading those that served and gave their lives for this war is sick.

Many of us DO have spouses, brothers, sisters, fathers and mothers in this war.

Personally, I just found out that my fiance will find out at 4pm MDT today if he is one of the 43 Military Police Officers from his 114 MP unit that is going to be deployed to Iraq - so yes, it TOUCHES all of US.

Of course no one questioned them....I think most here, realized that I was just trying to bring home a point!!!...and was not actually serious about anyone going back for more names so that the list would be up to date and "factual"...

quote:

Oh! So now I'm sick!

I'm sick for pointing out each and every name (almost) to those who take this stupid war lightly! It's a long list to look at....and if you can't face the truth, then you call me sick!

You know what's sick, Pid?

It's sick and it's heartbreaking that sooo many of our young lives were sacrificed (and dying at this very minute) in war started by a moron president and his sick cronies!

That's what's sick!!!

You actually believe it is "degrading" to let everyone know just who the lambs that went to slaughter, are? (talk about twisting things) I'm sure you didn't really mean that...

Louisiana teens getting driver's license also register for selective service

Robert Morgan

Posted on November 13, 2004

There may be no "plans" for a national military draft, but that hasn't kept Louisiana from registering teenagers too young to serve in case conditions change.

During the recently concluded presidential campaigns, the major candidates repeatedly said they had no plans to resume compulsory military service.

Their promises were not reassuring, however, to Larry Chevalier of Glenmora who was alarmed when his 16-year-old son Nathan had to register with the Selective Service System in order to get a driver's license.

Selective Service is the agency charged with collecting names and information about all 18-year-old American and immigrant men for possible conscription.

"I just can't believe it. That amazes me," Chevalier said.

What "amazed" Chevalier was that his son would not be eligible to serve in the military for another two years.

And neither he nor his son knew before going to the Office of Motor Vehicles that Natan would be required to pre-register for the draft in order to get his first driver's license, he said.

After questioning the early registration, Chevalier researched the issue and learned the Legislature passed Act 373 in the 2003 session dictating that all males aged 15 up to 18 seeking a first-time driver's license or an OMV identification card must register with Selective Service.

Chevalier's concerns were not wholly shared by young men attending a YMCA-sponsored driver's education course.

After being informed of the new condition for getting a first-time license, some of the teenagers only shrugged.

"I don't care," Mark Fontenot, a 16-year-old student at Apostolic Christian Academy, said.

Pineville High School student Josh Stokes, 15, said, "I think it's good.'

But neither student would elaborate on his view.

Stephen White, 16 and a student at Alexandria Senior High School, may have summed up the feelings of others when he said, "I think it's all right. I can't do anything about it anyway."

Chevalier suggested there should be something youngsters can "do about it."

"I don't know what rights as far as civil liberties that minors have, but I think their rights are being violated," he said.

Rudy Sanchez, general counsel for the federal Selective Service System, said, "I don't know the rationale for that. Louisiana shouldn't be registering 15-year-olds. We don't even register 16-year-olds."

Sanchez pointed out federal law only provides for "early submission" of information by a young man who is at least 17 years and three months old.

That information is held until the person becomes 18 when it is forwarded to the proper database, he said.

Otherwise, young men are required by law to register as early as 30 days prior to reaching age 18 and no later than 30 days after their birthday.

Other states have passed laws requiring young men to register with Selective Service when they get a driver's license, he said.

But he said no other state requires males as young as 15 to register.

And the information is not supposed to be forwarded to the federal agency until the young men reach 18 years old.

He said there is no mechanism for collecting data on males younger than 17 years and three months.

That claim was disputed by Everett Bonner, state director of Selective Service.

"They do accept it. I can promise you. They do not process it until the young man turns 18," Bonner said, adding information collected by OMV is forwarded to a federal data management center in Chicago.

He said registering young men when they get their drivers' licenses is a convenience for the registrant and a way to help them later in life.

Many young men do not know they are required to register with SSS, particularly in the inner cities, he said.

Anyone failing to register is "considered a felon without conviction," he said, adding it can lead to future loss of opportunities and benefits.

Someone who does not register for the draft cannot get a federal government job, he said.

Chevalier questioned how the state can force a minor child to "sign on the dotted line" without his parents' consent.

"As far as a minor child, the parents are responsible for that minor child," he said.

Bonner said, however, the parents have to sign for a minor to get a driver's license and that should suffice for the draft registration as well.

"What I don't like is somebody having all this information about kids and somebody sitting up there in some private meeting discussing how many young people they have available for the draft in two years," Chevalier said.

While the U.S. may be involved in military actions in Afghanistan and Iraq now, "we have Syria, Iran and North Korea sitting out there," he said.

Bonner said, "I would venture to say the federal government has all sorts of information about us through various sources. If someone thinks it's 'Big Brother,' he'll have to deal with that."

I'm sorry my words were lost on you Rainbow.

I was not referring to you having yelled at me in the recent past w/ my disclaimer, but rather that I expected you and your friends to come in guns waving in response to my post.

If I were to say, "So-and-so is a skank, and that's just my opinion, I stand by it" or, "Liberals are mindless morons, that's just my opinion, and I stand by it", I would get ripped a new @sshole in here by you and your comrades. I mean, sure I can say that, free speech and all, but if I want people to LISTEN to me, using such labels doesn't go very far towards that goal. That is all I meant.

Ummmmm......hey, since when did men NOT register with the selective service? It is included on the drivers license documents and has been for just about EVER.

In fact, if you apply for a government job you are asked if you are a man over the age of 18 if you have applied for selective service.

IT IS NOT A DRAFT!

See this is just more BS propaganda to try and take something that is routine and turn it into a damn emotional / political issue.

Yeah, I do hope that if my fiance is deployed that he comes back alive, but if he doesn't that is the sacrifice that he WILLINGLY gave for his country when he joined the army 10 years ago.

His life is JUST AS important as all the other lives fighting this war - and if you watched FARENHYPE 9/11 you would know that our MEN and WOMEN are there for a reason NOT like the whining crap put out there by Micheal Moore's propaganda.

Did you watch Farenhype 9/11 to get the real story?

and Rainbow, I DON'T think your 13 year old grandson is going to be drafted...he still have 5 years to go and 1) WE DON'T HAVE A DRAFT and 2) The war will be OVER.

NOW...if he CHOOSES to join the military then there is a chance they will SEND him overseas - that is what the military does.

Now as far as adding more names - no one questioned the list. Why make a big deal about adding more names or correcting them? If you want to dedicate a thread to our lost service men and women, hey more power to you,I think people would love to see that and be able to add their sentiments.

But you won't do that will you? You NEED to use those names and other things you post as a way of "pushing" emotional buttons. You don't really "hear" the responses because they do not fit into your mental tapes of what you "believe" is truth.

If you really cared, you would have started a post saying "A tribute to our lost soldiers" you could have even added 'Although I do not support this war and have my strong feeling about Bush, I would like to take time for us to remember these men and women that gave their lives".

You didn't...because it would NOT have pushed the right buttons and you NEED that angst...you LIKE that attention because then you turn around and start saying how people are picking on poor you.

From jwhop:

You know jwhop, that's what makes me wonder why anyone watches FOX

From Pid:

.

You still don't get it, do you Pid? Oh yes, a dedication to the sacrified would have been much "nicer and neater," since by doing it THAT way, we would be just remembering and nobody has to think about blame.

Well Pid, that's EXACTLY why I DIDN'T do it that way....I was hoping that by putting it on a thread titled MY FIRST THOUGHTS AFTER THE ELECTION, it might bring home to people that a man has just been "reelected" who sent all those young people off to their deaths in this hidious war!

I was hoping that maybe just a tiny bit of "conscience" might surface from those who worship at the feet of bush, as they pondered the death list!

But no!

They did not "hear" because it did not fit into their mental tapes of what they believe is truth.....(that phrase of yours certainly applies in this case, Pid)

Oh Wow! Wouldn't that have been all vanilla and cream instead of in your face blood and guts!

And then you have the gall to say....
"If you really cared..."

How dare you even question whether I really care or not?

If I didn't care...I wouldn't be trying to drive home to the bush lovers, just who was responsible for putting them in their graves; for the heartache their families must endure. I care and my heart hurts EVERY day!

If YOU really cared, you would not keep supporting bush so that he can keep the death assembly line going (he got a lot of practice in Texas)...

Oh this is so laughable! I love you telling me what "I need and like."

I don't need attention, Pid....but I do like to bring attention to the wrong doing I see...and gosh, I did notice that there has been a decrease in the tendecy to "pick on poor me" and I appreciate it....

Notice its easier to attack the author than address the thread itself.

Instead of (maybe) discussing how it feels to read those names, we will play the name calling game.

Brilliant.
