i am appalled at the way information is manipulated by the media, in such a way that seeks to breed fear in us....i think they call it 'sensationalising'.....the sensation being fear. i feel we are turning into a panic stricken society.in the uk now there is an abundance of information about the purchase of knifes and how many people have them and how to get them, how your 8 year old can get them,...where to keep them...and so on
it just freaks people out. the way i see it is as a big neon light flashing saying 'KNIFES, KNIFES, KNIFES'....and kids thinking 'hey, if everyone has one, i should probably get me one'
i know the media should rightfully give us information we could do with being aware of and I know it is up to us to digest the information from our view point but what is given to us is soo biased already that its increasing challenging for most to figure for themselves what is true. there are also a lot of people who will take anything they read as gospel because people just want to be 'looked after' and do not want to 'struggle' to think for themselves.
its just really petty things too....such as the weather report warning of the millions of old people that might die due to the cold...blah, blah...and its like ' just tell us the weather buster and give us some credit as human beings to have the sense to keep ourselves warm when it is cold. its not like briatin has never being cold....its cold 90% of the time. maybe instead of spending the money on unnecessary broadcasts, spend it in shelters, spend it in homes where people NEED warmth. heck give us heating for free during the winter months
i hope i am doing justice to this topic, because I feel it is a very important one. this is a beautiful world and its just been clouded and overshadowed by doom...it just really makes me sad.
