Since you brought it up .... There are so many different sorts of diversity. Ethnic diversity always seemed the least interesting to me. IP: Logged |

Ethnic diversity always seemed the least interesting to me. Im not surprised usually people from new york city are more open minded. I love living in a city where its so mix. it's beautiful. ------------------ ~*~ Cusp: Gemini/Cancer, Cancer rising, Taurus moon ~*~ Let's go...

Anyways lets stop this stuff already.Nah. I'll stop when I'm good and ready. Thanks for the offer though. *sighs darnit when will this world be at peace What a silly thing to say! How can the world be at peace when the people of the world are not at peace? You've made that quite evident here. Looks to me like you've already answered your own question. IP: Logged |

Good god...running around reading posts I didn't think I'd really run into such ignorance on LL, but the comment about upstate new york not even comparing is very opposing of the statement you made that new york city is openminded. The implications in that statement bother me; I'm upstate, and you have no idea my mindedness. Plus I always found it quite odd the arrogance of the statement by NYC people saying they are more openminded than upstaters: I recently went away to a college full of Long Islanders. At first I was psyched to be among people who have a lot of experience being in a diverse environment, until I was consistently judged by them when asked where I am from. I was defined as white trash, a hick, and that I must have gone to that school because I did not have enough money for a private school. I was also told that I didn't belong there and should have stayed up here and gone to SUNY Albany. They also thought I was "weird" because I actually have experience with being by nature, as I saw in my biology course. Openmindedness I think not. IP: Logged |

Just because someone lives in the most ethnically diverse place on Earth doesn't mean that they're going to be open-minded.------------------ "Reality leaves a lot to the imagination." - John Lennon IP: Logged |

I don't really know about you guys, but I've know that what is being said on this thread, couldn't be anything further from the truth! In fact, I've looked into this subject and found this interesting website that points out to certain groups of either of Love and Hate and the descriptions and names of groups of both sides! http://www.tolerance.org/maps/hate/ Please Note: This is NOT either a politally driven post nor is it racially or ethnically driven either, anybody that replies to this post just to shift towards that agenda, should expect NOT to recieve a returning reply from me! This is strictly for the purpose of showing Virgotaurustaurus that the places that claim to have the least intolerance, that the statistics reveil much differently! Hope this will ease your heart and mind Virgotaurustaurus!

Whoa ozone, that map is very neat! I like that site, I've never been there before...new one for me to check out! There's only one hate group even near where I live, and I knew that one existed (black separatism in Albany). Definitely eased my heart, also shocked me to know there are groups in places in Pennsylvania I've visited though (not major cities)!IP: Logged |

Hate is everywhere you go VTT, it doesn't really matter, but I hope that you find a plus side to all of this as well! There are just about as many good groups out there too that you can find out about, the only thing that these groups don't tolerate is the hate part! IP: Logged |

There was once upon a time that government officials were thinking about making LI it's own state, but I think that the idea ended up being scrapped for the purpose of the lack of funds for it and would have sky rocketed the already high taxes in the area.IP: Logged |
