Dubya's new budget proposal calls for massive cuts to programs that help many folks lead an almost decent life. Like having child care while they work. Getting food stamps if they can't work. Having help @ home if they're disabled. Receiving couseling & support services after being sexually assaulted. Shelters for the homeless, aid to technical schools and to public schools, of course. Now, instead of "No child left behind" it will "All children left behind" Except of course the children of wealthy parents who are sending them to private schools. And they've killed the minimum wage raise...boy and it was going to be a whopper..$2.10 over the next 26 months...well you can see how that wouldn't work...all these ppl runnin' round makin' more'n $7 an hour? What would be have left to send Iraq? And what if we needed or heck just wanted to invade Iran or Syria? Billions more would be required!
Seriously....call your Senators & Congressmen/women....tell them to just say no to Bush's Budget......Do it today!

Your outrage is misplaced.

It is not the duty or responsibility of the federal government to provide:

childcare
food
housing
psychological counseling
education

to the citizens of the various states. It is the duty and responsibility of the various states to provide for their own citizens. Even so, the federal government spends about half of the $2,500,000,000,000 federal budget on social welfare programs; much of the money being skimmed off the top to run the social welfare bureaucracy which has become welfare for federal bureaucrats.

Just for your information, the federal budget contains about $70 Billion in actual budget cuts out of a budget of more than $2.5 Trillion dollars.
