I am not sure if this is the right forum to post. Moderators please move it appropriately.

I have only read about America's stupid jokes in the past. Now I am a victim of one such Joke.

I am living in USA as permanent resident for the last seven plus years. Recently I wanted my Mom to visit me so I sponsored for her papers. I signed a sponsorship form assuring them that I would send my Mom back well before her Visa expiry.

My mom has been to the consulate 2 times and both times they rejected her saying, that the interviewing officer is not convinced that my Mom would return back to a country outside USA after her stay gets over.

Isn't this ridiculous. I only get 2 weeks of vacation per year and in the past seven years I used that to visit my parents. For first time I wanted her to come and see USA. Why is it so hard for the American's to refuse a Visa for a 59 year old lady.

They have welcomed me here because AMERICA lacks smart people in the country (thats what Bill Gates says).

What if I become US citizen in the future? will the US government be so insensitive to a citizens needs?

Or what if I decide to leave USA on this issue? Isn't there lack of good people for technical jobs right now?

What if I have property here legally? Will the Americans be such jerks as to allow my Mom entry only when I die?

I honestly do not understand whats going on here? LL's please echo your thoughts and help this poor guy have some peace of mind.

I have always been a tax abiding resident of both countries? Does it take a Senator's letter to convince those idiot officers?
How superficial and violation of human rights?

Regards,

-IAT

Dear Petron,
I am from India and thats where my Mom is trying from. After 9/11 they have a obscure section 214(b) on the basis of which they can refuse visa.

I am so ****** , I really wanted my mom for a function here.

Regards,
IAT

Yeah sorry to hear about that IAmThat. 2 weeks of vacation in 7 years...that's not good!!

I don't understand why it would be so difficult for you mother to visit either. What were the reasons they were not convinced she would return back? And what function do you have for your mom there?

Dear DayDreamer,
Thank you so much for listening. That was a typo. I meant the 2 weeks of vacation per year, that I accumulate, I used it in past years to visit them. For the first time I wanted my Mom to come here.

The function was my baptism
Once a lifetime event.

Peace.

Dear Juniperb,

Thank you for your prayers. I am going to write to the Senator. Hopefully that and everyone's prayers would help.

Peace

Dear IAmThat,

that's really unfortunate she missed your baptism...is it too late?

And how long ago did your mother try to get a visa?? I wish I could tell you how to do things differently this time.

Sending my prayers too

Dear DayDreamer,

Thanks for your prayers. I really need it.

Its too late now. I am already baptised. My baptism was on March 22 and she was interviewed on March 8 of this year.
Thats when her visa got refused.

Then she applied again in May third week.

I even wrote an email to their communication team. They said, that the officer is not convinced your mom would return. They also said, documentaty evidence means nothing and interview should be convincing.

My Mom is so lonely there. Wonder what her and mine karma is ...sobs...sobs....

Kind Regards,
M

Once you're a citizen I believe it won't be an issue for her to come visit.

It's a pity that some immigrants have given all immigrants a bad name (by overstaying visas, working illegally, flying planes into buildings, etc), and made it difficult for everyone. IMO the US immigration system is fatally flawed. But that's a rant for another day LOL.

Congrats on your Baptism!
