Live 8 are running an online petition to be presented at the G8 summit of world leaders asking them to cancel third world debt. double the aid given and allow fair trade for the poorest nations so they can help themselves in the future....

Good petition- definitely a step in the right direction.
Think about it- our wealth (the wealth of almost all developed nations) has been largely amassed through either plunder and colonization of these now-third-world countries, or else the enslavement of these peoples on our land.
Helping them improve their socio-economic conditions is something we owe them.
