I knew it would only be a matter of time before someone posted something about that here. No, I can't believe it. It's truly remarkable. I just listened to it in context, and although he sounds reasonable directly prior to those comments, telling the caller that the caller's comments are speculation (his caller speculated that if no abortions had taken place in the last 30 years that the tax revenue from those people would have saved Social Security's financial situation), his words linking black abortions and crime seem to be his own. He says it would be a morally reprehensible thing, but the assertion he made is plain as day and doesn't seem linked to the book they were discussing. It seems like his own original thought. quote: "If you wanted to reduce crime, you could -- if that were your sole purpose -- you could abort every black baby in this country and your crime rate would go down...
He said the above..... ....and then thinks that finishing it with the following, justifies such a statement????? quote: "That would be an impossibly ridiculous and morally reprehensible thing to do, but your crime rate would go down."
I STILL SAY, "HOW DARE HE?" .....and yes, AG you were correct in your assumption that it would only be a matter of time before someone mentioned this here.....because what he said, is a pretty hard thing to ignore...(no matter how he meant it!) ....altho I confess to not mentioning a lot of stuff here, that I think needs a mention, because in the past I've had people jump down my throat and teeter on my wishbone...and basically, I'm pretty thin-skinned....having a Pisces Moon, Venus and Saturn, plus Water Rising and two other planets in water signs...*sigh* Thru the years, I've learned to get a handl on that part of my chart for the most part.....but.... ...when it gets too hot for me in here.....I get outta Dodge....er, that is the kitchen.... I know this is only a forum with seemingly harmless printed words, in a little box that we can turn off or on, but with time, the people here become real...you get to know them, sometimes love them, and then find yourself getting kinda hurt when you learn that there are some here, who are not above going for the jugular when it suits their purpose.... Or at least, that has been the case in the past...*sigh* Jwhop has been a different case...he can disagree with me, without pushing sensitive buttons...our politics differ....but I've known him for a long time (thru this and other forums)....and I like and miss him....I hope he's okay. Anyway, I've been careful when coming over here to post and it usually goes like this..... *jumps in..... looks around...sees if it looks okay...then joins the crowd (if it looks safe) Boy am I a coward!*.... What is unfortunate is that people are surprised by this. IP: Logged |

I don't know if any of you have read Freakonomics: A Rogue Economist Explores The Hidden Side Of Everything by Steven D. Levitt and Stephen J. Dubner, but they go into this subject somewhat, just not racially. The theory they explore is along the lines of crime decreasing a generation after the legalization of abortion. Very interesting.
