Are you referring to the Iraq war? If you are, then I think I've seen the charts that you are talking about. It's pretty disgusting, that's for sure. But really, all big corporations are corrupt and disgusting, at least so far as I can tell. IP: Logged |

Naw, I think that she's referring to the FY05 reports of over $9b in net (after expenses, after taxes) profits.IP: Logged |

Here's a link: http://msnbc.msn.com/id/9839418/ My mistake, though - that wasn't for FY05...that was just for the third quarter (!!!) representing a 75% increase. ~~~ On a side note, Snope's MB's seem to have an interesting little convo going on about this very subject: http://msgboard.snopes.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=70;t=000856;p=1 IP: Logged |

Oh. Because of the hurricanes. I'm not sure if that's almost as bad, or even worse...IP: Logged |

Yeah, I didn't post the detail. Im new at this GU stuff. Yes I was talking about the billions in earnings that Exxon corp. recently reported. It overwhelms me that something so vital to our ecomony is being manipulated by this industry for profit. But then I think that somehow this shift will end up making thing better because maybe alternate energy sources will come out of it that will be better for the environment. IP: Logged |

I would bet that alternate energy sources have been being discovered for years, only to be squashed by the ultra-rich oil industry.IP: Logged |
