Excerpt from SAVING OUR DEMOCRACY by Bill Moyers... quote: And what now of DeLay? He's under indictment for money laundering in Texas and had to resign as Majority Leader. But the other day the party bosses in Congress gave him a seat on the powerful House Appropriations Committee where big contributors get their rewards. And -- are you ready for this? -- they put him on the subcommittee overseeing the Justice Department which is investigating the Abramoff scandal, including Abramoff's connections to DeLay. Business as usual. The usual rot. The power of arrogance.

That's all well and good Rainbow. I don't know if DeLay is guilty of any crime or not but I do know the prosecutor Ronnie Earle is an activist democrat. I know he first indicted DeLay on a charge which wasn't even a crime at the time Earle alleged DeLay broke the law. I know Earle ran the current indictment through 5 or 6 Grand Juries and didn't get an indictment and finally convened a new inexperienced Grand Jury to get the current indictment against DeLay.I know this is the same prosecutor who indicted Kay Bailey Hutchinson when she was first elected and after dragging out the process and trying to convict her in the press and in the court of public opinion, finally showed up the day of the trial and confessed to the judge that he had no evidence against her. It appears DeLay was indicted to force him to step down from his leadership position in the House...mainly because he was too effective and democrats wanted him out of there. Time will tell if this ever goes to trial or if it was just a ploy to get DeLay out of his leadership position. IP: Logged |

Even one of his Republican contenders doesn't like his style: http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20060301/pl_nm/delay_dc And the redistricting issue is going before the Supreme Court today: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060301/ap_on_go_su_co/scotus_texas_redistricting IP: Logged |

Hahaha, incredible, DeLay's Republican challenger doesn't like his style. Let me write that down: Republican contender who is trying to wrest DeLay's seat from him....doesn't like his style. Now that's NEWS! I suppose you thought his challenger would have showered DeLay with booming praise? IP: Logged |
