Is there no end to the PC nonsense being perpetrated by PC idiots? What's next, some jerk suing over the White House Easter Egg Hunt? St. Paul City Office Boots Easter Bunny Mar 23, 9:31 AM (ET) ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) - The Easter Bunny has been sent packing at St. Paul City Hall. A toy rabbit, pastel-colored eggs and a sign with the words "Happy Easter" were removed from the lobby of the City Council offices, because of concerns they might offend non-Christians. A council secretary had put up the decorations. They were not bought with city money. St. Paul's human rights director, Tyrone Terrill, asked that the decorations be removed, saying they could be offensive to non-Christians. But City Council member Dave Thune says removing the decorations went too far, and he wonders why they can't celebrate spring with "bunnies and fake grass." http://apnews.myway.com/article/20060323/D8GHB2R80.html IP: Logged |

But, um, the easter bunny isn't a Christian thing. It's a pagan thing that got sucked into Christianity along with many other holiday traditions when the Christians took over and forced their religion on the pagans ... "believe as we do or die," that sort of thing. http://altreligion.about.com/cs/alchemy/a/mpreviss.htm So, yeah, doesn't make sense to try to not offend non-Christians with essentially non-Christian imagery. I mean, if they had put up a giant Jesus dangling in the air appearing to be resurrecting then that might put off some non-Christians maybe but even then ... who cares? It's like this whole Christmas thing ... why are these "don't offend non-Christians" people worried about Christmas trees and Santa and all the other pagan symbols that got sucked into the birth of Christ celebration? I've never seen a non-religious Christian store displaying a nativity scene. Has that always been "too" Christian? Just doesn't make sense. Frankly, it would be nice if, in this country where everyone has the right to practice whatever religion they want and where the government can't declare an "official" national relgion, people could decorate their homes and businesses with whatever religious holidays they personally celebrate without being afraid of offending others or, even worse, of being attacked for celebrating their religious beliefs. Tolerance works all around.
Okay, really have to get some sleep now. ------------------ "To learn is to live, to study is to grow, and growth is the measurement of life.
