Yes, given the existing circumstances, the President is correct in stating there is no short term solution to high gasoline prices. Those circumstances are that the Daffy Ducks in radical environmental groups long ago excreted their brains into the crapper. They oppose any new drilling for oil and gas. They oppose building any new refineries or refurbishing existing refineries. They oppose building any new nuclear power plants and would shut down existing nuclear power plants if they could. They oppose the internal combustion engine itself. These are the same sh*t for brains who are now screeching, moaning and wetting themselves over the high cost of energy in America. These are the same sh*t for brains who endorse the crackpot global warming theory; the result of which would be the Kyoto Treaty which would drive energy prices even higher by restricting it's use and taxing the living hell out of it to run a corrupt UN bureaucracy. These are the same sh*t for brains who now want an investigation of the oil companies...oil companies who buy crude oil on the open market at market prices from OPEC producers. These are the same sh*t for brains for whom Algore's book, "Earth in the Balance" is holy writ and the brain dead twit Algore, their Messiah. IP: Logged |

We don't need new refineries, Jwhop. What we need in America and the world is the alternative energy that is available. In Brazil they use sugar cane that grows everywhere in the country to produce ethenol and they offer that as an alternative to gas at their gas stations. People get 600 miles per gallon on ethenol. Ethenol is an option in the U.S. made from corn that grows everywhere too but there are restrictions against using it. The oil companies, especially BP are in the process of producing it but oil companies want to control ethenol like they do gas which will do the American public no good because the price of it will be too high to afford and the oil companies will dicker with the price of that as they do gas, raising the cost of ethenol at their whim to line their pockets. Americans have no choice as to the available alternatives to gas and our president tells us that it is we who are addicted to gas. I need an oilman who got wealthy off of gasoline to tell me I am addicted to gas when the government will not allow any other alternative enegry. I just wanted to kick him in the teeth when he said that on T.V. MORON!!!!!! IP: Logged |

if the chairman of exxon makes $6000 an hour...almost $55 million a year, and gets a $400 million retirement package...then it seems clear to me that the reason for high gas and oil prices is so that oil companies make a huge profit... in reference to this kind of compensation ~ (from Petron's above article) "I think it will spark a lot of outrage," said Sarah Anderson, a fellow in the global economy program at the Institute for Policy Studies, an independent think tank. "Clearly much of his high-level pay is due to the high price of gas."

Jwhop, I think you're vastly misjudging the environmental movement. Does the average "daffy duck" think Al Gore is the Messiah? Good God no! The more extreme factions in particular think he's a hypocritical fake. Also, many environmental organizations agree the refineries need to be refurnished and repaired.IP: Logged |

Right, how clever to take productive food crop lands out of production to produce ethanol or biomass.Flash message to the sh*t for brains crowd. There are hungry people in the world and taking productive food crop lands out of food crop production isn't going to feed them. Fact is, there are options to the energy questions. Build more, lots more nuclear power plants. Build more, lots more refineries in the US. Drill in existing oil fields. Drill offshore and bring oil fields into production. Drill ANWR and get it into production. Refine technology and build coal to gasoline and coal to oil production facilities. Refine technology and build coal to hydrogen production facilities. Build wind turbine farms in suitable and reliable wind areas....a policy the screeching windbags in the Kennedy family and other so called green gasbags oppose. All these projects should have been done and would have been done were it not for the sh*t for brains in the leftist radical environmental groups who oppose every initiative to make the US less dependent on foreign produced oil. So now is not a good time for the sh*t for brains in the radical environmental groups to be screeching about the high cost of energy in the United States. One day soon, and he should have his @ss kicked if he doesn't, Bush should set some people in the Dept of Energy to work on research of all the projects for energy independence the radical leftist environmentalist groups have opposed. Then, he should out them for the lame brained morons they are. IP: Logged |
