I'm surprised that the number of un-and-underinsured Americans (and the causes of this, whatever you may hold them to be) hasn't been more of an issue on this board.

I'm curious - What do ya'll think about the current numbers/trends?
What do you think their origins are?

For a refresher, here's the AP release, and (if you're up for some more concentrated numbers wading), here're some of the stats lain out.

*waits for replies*

*and for jwhop's assertion that the numbers are a bunch of fabricated bunk *

I have no insurance. This has been an issue for me. Since I am 23 and they claim I make to much.

*Rolls eyes.

Looks like they haven't really checked how much my rent is.

It's awful. I'm afraid I might not be healthy. I haven't been to the doctor since I was like 17 years old.

I think about it everyday. i'm worried about myself.

I want to reply... I want to reply... I want to reply. But I'm too irritable and tired to be nice, so I'll just say:

Mystic Gemini, I feel your pain, sister.
