I just found out about this...A corrected map of the world, accomplished by cartographer Arno Peters (in the 19th century), shows striking differences to the traditional Mercator Map, which is extremely biased in its representation of land mass, but is still used in schools in the western world. http://www.pinnaclefarms.ca/ORIANAsite/DownsideUp/PetersPetersMapMercatorMap.gif IP: Logged |

Very interesting, HSC. However we simply cannot have the North American continent that small in proportion. It will not do. Also, just for future reference since you don't post here at GU that often, the neo cons at GU have made it a rule that nothing from Wikipedia is accepted here as a source since it is too easily edited by just about anyone. Myself I have noticed that many of the articles in Wikipedia that present new therories or ideas and those of certain liberal politicians and authors all state that they are either Marxists or in some way affliated with Socialists or Communists as does the article you presented here on Peters. Gives you an idea of who is doing most of the editing on those articles and authors at Wikipedia. Which does substantiate that Wikipedia is not a real good source for information if the general public can edit anything at the site. IP: Logged |

Wow - those two maps are not even close to being the same. How can there be such a big difference? Why? IP: Logged |
