This really concerns me, because a mass of people are depending (were) upon its initial discovery so they will be cured. I believe strongly in Alternative Medicine, and i believe that could be the answer to everything, there are tons of healing herbs that our environment offers us, but it seems like America thinks differently.

Here's a Clip of His Policy:

"My administration has made available more than $90 million for research on these lines. This policy has allowed important research to go forward without using taxpayer funds to encourage the further deliberate destruction of human embryos.

One of the bills Congress has passed builds on the progress we have made over the last five years. So I signed it into law. (Applause.) Congress has also passed a second bill that attempts to overturn the balanced policy I set. This bill would support the taking of innocent human life in the hope of finding medical benefits for others. It crosses a moral boundary that our decent society needs to respect, so I vetoed it. (Applause.)

Like all Americans, I believe our nation must vigorously pursue the tremendous possibility that science offers to cure disease and improve the lives of millions. We have opportunities to discover cures and treatments that were unthinkable generations ago. Some scientists believe that one source of these cures might be embryonic stem cell research. Embryonic stem cells have the ability to grow into specialized adult tissues, and this may give them the potential to replace damaged or defective cells or body parts and treat a variety of diseases."

Here's the site at large:

In the clip I posted just now it elaborates upon what stem cell research is (just in case you didn't know), personally I feel its moral degredation. It's funny because President Bush can stop Abortion, but stem cell research is suspiciously similar. But what are your thoughts upon this so debated delimma?

OH, lord jwhop, i'm sorry you caught it like that. I meant he SIGNED a paper against abortion, but he's ALL for stem-cell research. Sorry if you didn't catch my drift.

Neptune,

Bush is all for stem cell research from embyronic "umbilical" cell research. There is a big difference. One is harvested from the cord of a newborn and one is harvested from aborted fetuses.

People are making a huge deal about it because those that hate Bush want to make it seem like research has stopped for those that depend on the use of stem cells. That is hardly the case. Instead, past embryonic cells lines can still be harvested and tissue is cultured created daughter cell lines. What is stopped is using aborted fetuses like ones own tissue incubator.

The use of stem cells has proved to be iffy at this point. Recepients of such cell transplants, in regards to Parkinsons and even in transplanting of other cells, has caused adverse reactions. The cells are immature and grow / work at a higher rate that the surrounding tissues and neurons can handle. It ends up creating more problems and in regards to Parkinsons, the bradykinesia is extremely affected with patients now totally unable to control their body movements.

In time, when the emotions are left out of the equation we will see that those that pushed for the ban were right.

Thank You, you helped prove my point with your own flavor. Its one of the rare things that make me just a little angry with politicians vs. science.
