Do you ever wonder what laugher is? What makes you laugh? I've analyized the feeling that proceeds laugher, and you know what I think it is?

Gratitude of truth.

Laugher is a way of saying thank you for pulling out a truth that I knew all along.

Do me a favor. Next time you laugh, examine why it's funny to you, and break it down to the nth degree and come and describe it to me. My Aqua moon is agitated or something. Please humor me.

Yes, perhaps - but I thought we could use some levity here in GU.

Ever watch The Daily Show or The Colbert Report? Stephen Colbert's White House Correspondent's Dinner roast was pretty funny as well.

For me, there's too much visual humor for me to completely go with your theory. I watch Who's Line Is It Anyway quite often, and a good deal of what's funny is in the reaction of the actors.

The last movie I watched was absolutely, laugh-out-loud hilarious at the end, and though I know they used tried and true methods for illiciting the laughs, it seemed very fresh and new. I highly recommend Little Miss Sunshine. (They actually didn't ruin anything with the commercial).

The 'Post a Joke' thread on FFA is the last thing that made me laugh

Actually, every time I've laughed since you've posted this, I was reminded of this and thought to myself, "why is this funny? Why am I laughing?"

For me, it's one of two things...either the truth of a matter, as you said, or the utter ridiculousness of it.

And you're right Lioneye, we sure could use some levity in here.

Speaking of which, I was unable to sleep and massively bored the other night, so I created dolls of a few of you in the dollmaker thread in FFA. http://www.linda-goodman.com/ubb/Forum7/HTML/006870-3.html

It does have a limited template of choices for customization, so go easy on me if you're like OMG that's so not me!!!!

I laughed pretty hard and out loud at the check out counter at Walmart. I opened one of those gossip mags and they had a picture of chubby male stars.

I think it was under Val Kilmer the caption said 'Nice man boobs'.

He really had man boobies.. which I thought was hilarious especially since my ex-fiance had man boobs as a result of going on injectable steriods and doubling the dose. LMAO... it was quite humerous to see him developing B cups - I wonder if he uses a "bro" now (you know... like Kramer from Seinfeld invented for man boobs instead of the bra for women).

Hee hee..

nice man boobs....

My dolly is cute!
And no, not too far off, Isis. I'm blond, pretty casual dresser, and my hair is semi long, with blue eyes like that too. Not a bad depiction of me, really. If I were a cartoon, that is.

You know, when you laugh, sometimes it's not about a harmless realization of a harmless truth, sometimes it's funny when others just don't get it. But that's only harmless if it can't hurt you or them. When a miss-understanding has the power to cause harm, it's no longer funny.

I'm dumb you're dumb is ok as long as it doesn't matter.

What I mean is, humor is very personal & conditional.

IE: Humor is a realization of truth
Or, humor is a realization that someone else soooo doesn't get an established truth. It's only funny if nobody gets hurt.

Agree or disagree.
