In the U.S people,(especially the bride) has the choice to take the groom's name. One of the accountants at my bank told me that in Germany the bride doesn't have this choice and is obligated to take her husband's name.Do people from Europe and Asia still follow this tradition?.Just wondering.

Within Asia alone there are soooo many different ethncities and traditions, so of course there are groups that keep their last name upon marriage and there are also groups of women that change their last name after marriage. Im sure there are also men that change their last name to their wives last name even.

Religion aslo has a part to play. Muslim women are actually supposed to keep their last name, yet for some odd reason, many change their name to their husbands My mother included!
