Malkhouf:

Its simple. Adultry falls under the category of deceptive undertakings (i.e. cheating if you will.) Obviously, your partner isn't aware of the fact that you have committed this act behind their back and its wrong now isn't it?

Where are divorce is concentual and is an act of candid honesty. You obviously are divorcing your partner because you really don't wanna be married to them one way or another (One possible reason being that you don't love em anymore.)

See in principal, Islam has given a vaible solution to the whole "deceptive hearts" issue but the problem with some real life applications are the fact that the defination of "adultery" gets totally twisted by interperters who sometimes take it to VERY extreme levels to get people under their control.

Then again... I can say the same thing about secular Judicial systems and lawyers in general.

Yessiry and a proud one .

I kinda find it funny that people project all these hilarious stereotypical ideas about Islam on the Muslim community and then they usually are quite surprised to see a fact that THIS Muslim is not all what some of their Islamaphobic ideas actually pointed to Lol!

Heck my Girlfriend is a Deist LOL! We are lightyears apart when it comes to Religious backgrounds yet it doesn't stops us from being togather .

I find it wierd how people accept that their religion will stone them to death or amputate their body parts if they commit adultery.

They just can't comprehend it. Instead they choose to defend it. Pathetic.

That's because you are in Canada.

You're not in the Middle East.

I can't exactly expect you to comprehend the core teachings of any religion now can I? I would have to say that its your reluctance to actually see the pinnicle points of any religious beliefs as apart to what they were shaped into by the dominant aspects of society at the time.

You know........you can get killed in some Middle Eastern countries for walking with a man who is not your family member.

Why do people even follow these religions?

I'm so glad I don't follow any.

Twinkle... Why is it that you always end up projecting the extreme sectional lives of any society onto the religion as a whole?

Yes the senerio you called up is true but such cases are usually limited to rural areas (i.e. Its a prodominant problem in the rural areas of Pakistan for instance where there is little authoritative control and tribal leaders do as they see fit.)

I do Twinkle Stars, but not one where the father or uncles kill their young over (percieved) dishonor.

My religion teaches forgiveness.

oh well, to each their own.

Xiodian, other than Canada, where is your family from?

Maybe you should research your religion more and know where it comes from.

Actually..why follow something when you haven't seen it? Just because a book tells you too.........doesn't mean you have to.

1) In Leviticus 25:44-46, the Lord tells the Israelites it's OK to own slaves, provided they are strangers or heathens.

2) In Samuel 15:2-3, the Lord orders Saul to kill all the Amalekite men, women and infants.

3) In Exodus 15:3, the Bible tells us the Lord is a man of war.

4) In Numbers 31, the Lord tells Moses to kill all the Midianites, sparing only the virgins.

5) In Deuteronomy 13:6-16, the Lord instructs Israel to kill anyone who worships a different god or who worships the Lord differently.

6) In Mark 7:9, Jesus is critical of the Jews for not killing their disobedient children as prescribed by Old Testament law.

7) In Luke 19:22-27, Jesus orders killed anyone who refuses to be ruled by him.

I think people need to open their eyes. I bet many never even read all the holy books they have and don't really know the whole story.

Lalalinda:

Actually my background stems from Spain and Saudi Arabia Lalalinda . Again it amuses me that people assume automatically that just because you follow a certain religion you have no identity of your own Lol!

Funny thing is, my parents married each other for love and not were forced togather through circumstances or arranged marriage as the common misconeption about Islamic Unions have come to be. They are both devout Muslims yet they are fiery individualists Lol! (Well my mom is quite verbal on her opinions; She is an Aries Lol! My dad is ever the silent Capricorn Authoritative figure.)

You people worship something that someone else told you to worship.........without even questioning it.......like many have done over the centuries.

I love the Catholic churches that collect money from everyone. Makes me laugh.

My heart is more spiritual, wanting to be a better human being.

My religious goals are to follow the Commandments.

and to not judge.

Edited: I know very little about the Muslim religion and traditions. If it wasn't for the Utube video links posted here, I wouldn't even know about stoning.

And that is where you're absolutely wrong. Discovering one's faith is a life long journey and though many will not outright admit it, everyone has questioned the sanctity of their religion due to violent and harmful actions assosiated with it.

In the end though; MOST do realise the fact that those actions stems from political agendas (The Christian Crusades and the current situation with Islamic extremist orginizations) and NOT religious Dogma.

I know its a cruel and inhumane punishment and I for one don't associate it with Islamic teachings whatsoever. Again notice which countries of the world allow the action of stoning: Mostly developing or very newly industrializing nations.

The ten commandments tell you only worship one god.

(shouldn't that be you own choice?)

This is the funniest part:

5 You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I the Lord your God am a jealous God, punishing children for the iniquity of parents, to the third and the fourth generation of those who reject me.

Now he's gonna punish me for not believing in him? WTF

It tells you not to work on Sundays.......no prob........but then it says even your slaves shouldn't work sundays...............however it doesn't say you SHOULDN'T own slaves.....you see what I mean?

21 Neither shall you covet your neighbour’s wife. Neither shall you desire your neighbour’s house, or field, or male or female slave, or ox, or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbour.

Again with the slave crap WTF? Religion is such a joke.

Again didn't I say that there always be religious content assosiated with socitial structure of the times?

What you mentioned above is a very good example of that yet you twist its actual intentions inorder to prove a very vauge point for yourself.

lalalianda....why don't you go back and read what you wrote LOL. You didn't even make sense....but then again what would you expect from a blind follower? You're asking me about the very words your religious book contains. That is why I said you do not know what you are really following. You should know those words.

Especially, since you do follow the ten commandments. That's part of that...the full commandements so......you might want to rethink your religion.
