A modern American Fairy Tale

Once upon a time, in a land they called America, a little girl was born.

This little girl was so very beautiful, so exceptional, that her loving parents named her Snow White. Truly, her lustrous black hair and limpid dark eyes were the perfect complement to her exquisite ivory skin. And as lovely as she was on the outside, she was even more beautiful within; her sweet, sunny personality absolutely melted everyone who saw her.

In her early childhood, her parents saw that she was taught all the important things – loving obedience, respect for others, politeness and ladylike behavior, and a childlike faith in God. These things she actually liked, and though she was quite playful and sunny, she exuded character and intelligence.

Then she met the Seven Dwarfs.

They'd been tagged with this name because they seemed so weird and insignificant; but they always clustered together, bound by strange, liberal and sometimes seditious beliefs. Some of them were teachers and others members of what was called a "civil liberties union." Somehow, they steadily gained and exerted mysterious influence. Their names were Sneaky, Dopey, Smarmy, Angry, Sleazy, Grouchy and Dork.

So, as it happened, just as Snow White entered school, full of innocence and a desire to learn, the Dwarfs managed to change all the rules. They cast a spell over the real and dedicated teachers, tricking them into imbibing a seductive potion they called New Education Alternatives; it sounded so attractive that it became very popular, coming to be known by the shorter "NEA."

Enticed by tempting promises of shorter hours, more money, lifelong tenure unrelated to performance in the classroom and even political clout as a huge voting bloc, the teachers allowed the NEA to drop very important things from the history books, to forbid absolutely any mention of God in the classroom or in essays, to promote all types of sexuality equally, even to grade-schoolers, to dictate that only evolution could be taught to explain the existence of the living world, and in general to erase any consideration of morality and American tradition.

Of course, Snow White's parents objected strenuously. They attended PTA meetings and complained that their daughter was continuously being taught things that were diametrically opposed to what they'd taught her at home, but their complaints were dismissed out of hand. And sadly, while they did their best to counteract the evil influence of the Dwarfs, little Snow White was drawn into the pervasive spell cast over the whole school system.

When she was barely into her teens, she began to experiment sexually, first with other kids and then with one of her grown teachers. Only later was it revealed that the teacher, a woman, was actually a wicked witch! Poor Snow White had been drawn into drugs as well as sex, and she soon discovered she was pregnant. The Dwarfs were only too happy to arrange an abortion – without notifying her parents. Confused and disillusioned, Snow White moved in with the wicked witch, eventually claiming to be her "wife."

In another part of town, in another spellbound school, a handsome young boy named Prince Charming was going through similar experiences. Snow White and Prince Charming would have made a perfect couple, as their parents would have dreamed – but under prolonged exposure to the same hypnotic spell, the boy was seduced by each of the Dwarfs and taught in the mandatory sex education class that he'd been born "gay." When he learned he'd contracted AIDS, he overdosed on drugs that were easily obtained just outside the principal's office, on the schoolyard.

His sorrowing parents arranged a memorial service, and everybody – including the Seven Dwarfs and the Wicked Witch – agreed he'd been just an "ideal kid," without an enemy in the world. Except the Seven Dwarfs and the Wicked Witch.

It would be wonderful if it could be said "… and they all lived happily ever after" – but of course, that would be a lie. Too many of them didn't even go on living very long, some struck down with insidious contagious diseases, which some tried to blame on uncaring politicians and hard-hearted, Bible-toting right-wingers.

The Dwarfs and so many of the children whose morals they'd corrupted traded honor and integrity and happiness for fatal neuroses and shorter life expectancy – while the very tradition of marriage and family dissolved and the reputation of the land called America was forever damaged. In the wake of so-called "new education alternatives," America steadily fell behind other nations in all areas of learning, and eventually it hardly mattered if she was absorbed into something called a North American Union. This sad attempt to merge all the strengths and weaknesses of Mexico, the U.S. and Canada – became Northern Venezuela.

This all may be a fable, a fairy tale, or a nightmare. But if it's the latter, we'd better wake up quick. Like many fairy tales and some dreams, there's too much reality for comfort.

I keep coming across this rubbish.

Understand, I hold a very dim view of schools. But this rubbish also annoys me.

Name one American school that as a policy arranges for the secret abortions of kids? I never heard of a one.

And schools united with the ACLU? That's like the NAACP united with the KKK.

The vast majority of states in the US don't promote "all types of sexuality." In fact, ever see the movie Mean Girls? While exaggerated, sex ed as shown in that comedy is much closer to the truth of what it's like in school as opposed to fundie hysteria. Most schools are VERY strongly "abstinence only." And btw, contrary to what some say, this was long before Bush 2.0 became prez. A history:
http://www.nomoremoney.org/history.html

Btw, because schools LIED to us about sex and drugs, and basically cried wolf about both of them, we took to ignoring the true dangers right along with the false dangers (why is it they never learned from the story "The Boy Who Cried Wolf"?).

I lost my virginity when I was 15, in early 1998. I regret that, did so as soon as it happened. At the time, I was very nervous and wanted to find a reason to stop. But could I go to any adults? Nope, none that occurred to me right then. I certainly couldn't go to school. No condoms there, and certainly no abortions, the teachers were either ashamed and/or bitter about talking about sex of any kind. I had no respect for those liars.

My experience isn't that unusual. Teen pregnancies and STDs are most common in the Bible Belt for the most part. San Francisco, one of the few places to give REAL sex ed, has much less pregnancy and STDs among teens. I can go on, but I trust the link I left behind will go more into it.

Btw, the schools I went to had a very strict dress code, but I've heard of much stricter (very few less strict). And the schools weren't happy, trying to promote the school uniforms promoted by the Clinton administration. Since then, "zero tolerance" (aka "zero intelligence") has made it even worse.

More on zero tolerance:
http://www.zerointelligence.net/

And btw, check out what happened to this 4-year-old:
http://www.kxxv.com/Global/story.asp?S=5785699

quote:
A four-year-old hugged his teachers aide and was put into in-school suspension, according to the father. But La Vega school administrators have a different story.

Damarcus Blackwell's four-year-old son was lining-up to get on the bus after school last month, when he was accused of rubbing his face in the chest of a female employee.

The prinicipal of La Vega Primary School sent a letter to the Blackwells that said the pre-kindergartener demonstrated "inappropriate physical behavior interpreted as sexual contact and/or sexual harassment."

Blackwell says it's ridiculous that the aide would misread a hug from a four-year-old. Blackwell wrote to administrators demanding that the whole incident be expunged from his son's academic file because his son is too young to know what it means to act sexually

Oh, yeah, can't you imagine the orgies going on in such an atmosphere?

Took me long enough to find this, but something else about how schools have changed since the 90s:

School scraps cross-dressing day, adds 'Camo Day' to Homecoming

quote:
Tanner T. Hunt Jr., the school district's attorney, called Sasser's statement "inflammatory and misleading." Hunt said the district never planned or conducted a "cross-dressing day."

"They are a tiny little East Texas school district," said Hunt, a Beaumont attorney. "It never occurred to them that anyone could find anything morally reprehensible about TWIRP Day. I mean, they've been having it for years, probably for generations, and it's the first time anybody has complained."

Delana Davies, a 33-year-old mother of three, said she contacted Superintendent Angela Matterson on Tuesday after reading a school notice about "TWIRP Day."

Davies, whose 9-year-old son and 4-year-old daughter attend Spurger Elementary, said she viewed the day not a silly Homecoming Week activity, but as an effort to push a homosexual agenda in a public school.

"It's like experimenting with drugs," said Davies, who also has a 2-year-old daughter. "You just keep playing with it and it becomes customary... If it's OK to dress like a girl today, then why is it not OK in the future?"

After speaking with the Liberty attorney, Matterson agreed to exempt Davies' son and older daughter from attending school on Wednesday. However, district officials later decided to scrap "TWIRP Day" altogether and replace it with "Camo Day," where students will wear camouflage clothing.

"I just think it's unfortunate," Hunt said. "It was just never intended to be anything other than just an innocent, fun day for children."

How about a fairy tale for that?

As for some of the other stuff...like some things dropped out of history textbooks, that's due to many political forces on the left and the right. Basically, the big corporations that make the textbooks try to maximize their sales by sugarcoating and dropping things so that the least amount of people are offended--from Californian liberals to Texas Christian fundamentalists--and what's left is part of why our schools are the worst in the world. More here:
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/12705167/GT1/8199/

Though getting "intelligent design" into the curriculum surely won't make them any better. :P

Oh, and students aren't indoctrinated into being gay. Not even by the few schools that allow a GSA chapter within them. And students moving in and marrying their teachers? Granted, the unions totally suck in disciplining sexually harassing teachers, but even so, that's just not tolerated. And btw, the vast majority of teachers that sexually harass or abuse or seduce students are men. And of the very few female teachers, the vast majority are heterosexual.

And while I bring this up, let me point out something I find VERY annoying about the Christan Right and their homophobia. The Christian Right can go after teletubbies and Spongebob, they can go after breakfast cereal, they can raise a stink about gay penguins in Europe. But they apparently can NOT put the same effort into stopping the hazing where boys sexually abuse other boys, sometimes with the full knowledge of coaches. In one case, the abusers were college jocks that abused high school jocks sexually. My theory is that the hazing isn't about fun, and the Christan Right is concerned about making life a veil of tears so that people come to their god, and that's why they ignore actual sexual abuse while going after stupid stuff and passing stories like this fairy tale around.

Btw, where else but in the USA can students get tormented by adults and kids alike for being "witches" and "satanists"? As just one of many examples, a girl suspended for making her teacher sick via witchcraft (btw, the girl is a Christian, a victim of a witch hunt by a school):
http://www.skeptictank.org/gen1/gen00523.htm

Note also, the school and ACLU were enemies, NOT friends...as usual.

The question I'm left with is Pat Boone knowingly and willfully lying, or does he really believe what he's sharing?

My cousin once was real angry because her son came home from school saying mommy! Christopher Columbus was a hero!!!!

Her mom marched straight over to the school and told them to stop teaching her son lies. She told her son the truth.

Everyone knows Christopher Columbus was an Indian murderer.

my kinder aged son just came home singing a new song he learned at school.

the flag of america
red... white... and blue...
the flag of america....
we worship you...
the flag of america
red... white... and blue...

i came un-glued!!!
then, calmly asking what the words to the song were again, he responded by repeating the words as described above.
i asked; where did you learn this song?
he replies; my teacher "mrs. xeditedx".

i freaked!
wtf! why in the world would she teach our children to worship the flag?

then this same day we go to safeway (a food store) he eye's this little flag and begs to have it.

he looks at me all proud while waving it back and forth in the air and say's; daddy you know those army men? i say; yes. he says; those army men, they are REAL! they go and kill all the bad guys so we are safe.

needless to say he also learned this from his teacher.

I spent about 10 or 15 minutes explaining to him that "those army men" are real people in fact many are "mommies, and daddys" like me and those so called "bad guys" are "mommies and daddies" too... just living in another country.
i asked if he understood? he said yes, then i carefully explained that many misguided people believe that because you don't live here or there or your nationality or religion is diifferent that you are a "bad guy".

wow! how can this freak call herself a teacher?
how can she be allowed to teach my son such crap!
it took everything i had not to go strait to into her classroom and knock the living shi? out of her.
i have however arranged a conference with the principle and her scheduled for wednesday afternoon.

ok, ok, so this went way off subject but just so you know; "there really is too much reality for comfort."
this was a really good story to have posted here, thank you!
