Death while in custody
Oct. 4: A woman dies while in custody after police arrest her at a Phoenix airport. Dan Abrams takes a look at the new surveillance tape of her arrest and speaks with analyst Susan Filan, former FBI profiler Clint Van Zandt and Lt. Det. Steven Rogers. http://video.msn.com/video.aspx?mkt=en-us&tab=m138&vid=52c1caf0-da12-4c4e-9e97-b286b2c0acc3&playlist=videoByTag:mk:us:sd:1:sf:Title:ns:VC_Supplier:tag:Msnbc:vs:0&from=Msnbc>1=104 50

I hope the vid link works. Anyone heard of this?

I saw it a few days ago on the news. She was supposed to be on the way to rehab. i forget of it was for drinking or drugs. Her parents hired a Lawyer. As someone originally from NY. That is the first thing i would do. They were smart to get the media involved. I think it's best to shine the spotlight on these things.

You know what they say, if you've done nothing wrong, you've got nothing to hide.

Looks like the cops did something wrong if they're refusing to turn over the evidence that would, in theory, clear them of wrong doing if they're telling the truth. That's so bad that "bad" doesn't even describe it.

And given that cops tend to become exceedingly suspicious, if not downright offended, when someone refuses to let a cop search their car or home, I'd think they could understand why it looks bad that they don't turn over the dead body when doing so would clear them if they're honest, and damn them if they're not.

Yeah, it's the police refusal to give up some of the body parts that has made me suspicious, too. Even if they are busy it still makes a horrible impression. And I can't even think how that family must be feeling.

I also didn't realize getting hysterical, especially with known psychological problems, was cause for arrest for "disturbing the peace". I mean, yes, find a way to constructively deal with a person having a breakdown, particularly a loud one, but arresting them and leaving them unattended doesn't seem quite the proper thing to do at that point, imo.

Sometimes you have to stay cool in the face of Authority no matter how crazy the situation is. no matter how hysterical you feel. I am saying this from personal experience. it makes the situation worse. Those in Authority can do a lot of damage and get away with it.

nothing in the video indicated anything about 'known psychological problems'. they described her as irate and distraught. it seems to me that such behavior at an airport boarding gate would initiate much more concern than other public places.

i was quite surprised at the atmosphere at an international airport that i visited recently. my son and i went to pick up my ex-husband on his return from vacation. it was a very serious and grim place. i thought i could take my babe to all the shops and restaurants i remembered enjoying when i would visit the airport long ago. i always thought it was fun running about in a bustling atmosphere, with people flying in from all the world.

but it's different now. the security measures simply for entering the gate areas look like those of a highly guarded military base. we were halted and treated like intruders there. i recall always going to the gate to meet the person flying in. friends and family always standing at the gate to pick people up. but now only those with airline tickets may enter the gate area...also the area with all the shops and restaurants. my babe and i had a narrow corridor to stand around in, crowded with the people waiting for their travelers...from all flights.

i was so surprised at the military-like, dire atmosphere of the airport. it wasn't at all what i suspected. but given this type of security and attitude, the woman's behavior at the gate of a flight seems it would be way more of a cause for concern, than if she were at a mall or a zoo.

so assuming anything about psychological problems, which, according to the video, the police didn't, might not take as much precedence as concern for security. my son and i simply walked to the entry of the gate area, and i thought we might be escorted out.

obviously, there's much more to the story than is being shown. the police aren't that stupid.

I'd dearly love to know how one goes about suffocating oneself - sans a noose of course. I can only imagine that I would pass out before the deed was done, thereby halting the procedure in its tracks.

anyone remember Rigoberto Alpizar?

"Dominate. Intimidate. Control."

Oh yeah.
