Leonardo da Vinci!!

"Leonardo has often been described as the archetype of the "Renaissance man", a man whose seemingly infinite curiosity was equaled only by his powers of invention.
He is widely considered to be one of the greatest painters of all time and perhaps the most diversely talented person ever to have lived."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leonardo_da_Vinci

I imagine how blessed his contemporaries were, to share in the presence of this clear and courageous free-thinker.

Some quotes from Leonardo:

"Nothing strengthens authority so much as silence."

"Anyone who conducts an argument by appealing to authority is not using his intelligence; he is just using his memory."

"You can have no dominion greater or less than that over yourself."

"Beyond a doubt truth bears the same relation to falsehood as light to darkness."

"I love those who can smile in trouble, who can gather strength from distress, and grow brave by reflection.
'Tis the business of little minds to shrink, but they whose heart is firm, and whose conscience approves their conduct, will pursue their principles unto death."

"For once you have tasted flight you will walk the earth with your eyes turned skywards, for there you have been and there you will long to return."

"There are three classes of people: those who see, those who see when they are shown, and those who do not see."

And my personal favorite:

"Men of lofty genius when they are doing the least work are most active."

Awesome quotes, too.

"I love those who can smile in trouble, who can gather strength from distress, and grow brave by reflection.
'Tis the business of little minds to shrink, but they whose heart is firm, and whose conscience approves their conduct, will pursue their principles unto death.'" - So Taurean

He was a true master of the physical form.

Interesting that it was a Taurus who tried to build some of the first flying machines.

Trying to escape that heaviness perhaps?

Ummm...thought Leonardo was a 3rd decan Aries? I have him down as 15th April, although one might have to allow for calendar adjustment. I personally always feel L. embodies the Aries spirit of discovery; to me, he was much more Aries than Taurus. I.e. hugely inventive mind, and never finishing anything!

hmmm...

would you look at that..

yeah, i think you are right.

there is one astro site showing his sun
at 3' taurus and says he was born on the 23rd,
but then the other sites that give the day say the 15th, so...

I guess you are right.

He's an Aries.

Like Van Gogh and Baudelaire!

Well, that makes sense.

He does remind me of someone I know with a 1st house mars and mercury in aries.

Where did you find that thread???

I`ve looked all over for it and was beginning to think I imagined it.

I have a book of Leonardo da Vinci`s drawings and his eye for detail never ceases to amaze me. I often wondered if he saw his inventions in dreams and worked from them..

Many Taureans dont finish their works either. I have more unfinished paintings lying around than I know what to do with.

I hardly think someone who threatens to sue Lindaland (as empty a threat as it is notwithstanding) hardly deserves a monument here to the effect of her being "wise, caring, and beautiful." But BR and AG, you both know where she is, so you can both can go over there to do your ass kissing. Appreciate it.

C'mon, people. Enough is enough.

Mirandee may have shared a wealth of gifts with us, but she did something questionable once.

Let's save our admiration for the jarheads blowing the limbs off innocent children overseas.

Anyone who can maim and kill children without giving it a second-thought deserves a monument.

That's what I'm talking about.

No this thread is example of continuation of stupidity.

Da Vinci was born on April 15, 1452.
He is Aries (tropical and sidereal)

Can someone obliterate this thread?

He's the one making your head spin.
