Can't we all agree to disagree?
We shouldn't be putting each other down...whether it's a liberal putting a conservative down or a conservative putting a liberal down.

People should be allowed to express their views without being condescended and patronized to. On the other hand, I believe that people should express their views without being condescending and patronizing. That's a point that I have tried to make in the past.

I haven't been condescending and patronizing to others when I expressed my views. That goes with some other people. We get a share of being condescending and patronized to and even twisting our words and assuming things about us that we are not. We don't deserve that. A lot of people here don't deserve that.

I will even stick up for jwhop. There is no proof of him being racist imho. I am a person that won't hesitate to call people out when it comes to racism. He's just a conservative, and there is no crime in that. When he pushes his conservative views down people's throats and put liberals down because their views are not concurrent with his view of reality,it's a problem. I am definitely no racist with my interracial parentage and my history of interracial dating/relationships,and interracial friendships. The woman that I love more than anything in the world is a white woman like my mother. I wouldn't hesitate to be in an interracial marriage with her even though they are only 5 percent of all marriages in USA. I believe that people of all races are created equal, but I feel that many don't share that view. There is lack of equal treatment. I am a very liberal person, and I don't force my views down people's throats. However,I do defend fellow liberals too just like conservatives defend their fellow conservatives. I also believe that my liberal values don't have to be embraced by conservatives. I do believe that gay marriages should be legal because gay people are people too. They should have all their civil rights. Religious views shouldn't infringe on their rights just like religious views shouldn't infringe on the rights of interracial couples that want to be together. I am a believer in prochoice. I don't believe that a woman's right to choose infringes on the rights of women who are prolife. However,a lot of prolife people want their beliefs to infringe on the rights of women when it comes to parenthood. I believe in separation of church and state. After all,USA is not a Christian nation. It's a multifaith nation. It's about time, that everybody faces that reality. We have so many different religions in this country that we can't just ignore them and think that Christianity is the only valid religion. Who cares if somebody is a Muslim. Who cares if somebody is an Atheist. We all have different beliefs in some way or another. Just because my beliefs fit with New Age,Neopaganism,Unitarian Universalism, and New Thought doesn't mean that I should make people believe what I believe in. I wish a lot more Christians in USA would believe that too. We all should get used to the idea that we are a country of religious and cultural diversity. The hell with the culture wars.

I feel like this is like a war between ideological factions. I hate stuff like that. I believe that we can get along even though we have different ideological views just like we can get along even though we are of different races, genders, ethnicities, religions, etc.

In the bible, there is one verse I love

Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

other words, treat people like you want to be treated.
That's the easiest concept of all, but it seems like it's the hardest thing to practice.

Let's not call people stupid, idiot, and other words because we don't agree

as a person with a history of Dyslexia,Dyspraxia,ADD who was in special education for 3 years, I know what it's like to be put down as having low intelligence even though I have above average intelligence. That's why I don't like to put people down as having low intelligence. After all,why should I tell that to people when I don't like it being told to me. My special education history taught me to be humble and tolerant of people's differences. I have a special place in my heart for people with special needs..especially ones that are children.

another thing, I was in the US Navy for years, and so nobody better call me not patriotic even though I don't agree with how USA is being run and how we are viewed by many people in other countries. I am no Anti-American, but I am definitely Anti-Bush. As a multiethnic person who grew up with multiculturalism and tolerance of religion, I reject good ol American values. I embrace diversity which is what USA is all about. I can get along with people of different races, religions, nationalities, etc because I was raised to see all people as equals. I believe that we all have the right to speak our minds about things without being treated like we are a dangerous enemy that needs to be put in prison or exiled. Thank God, that USA is always evolving. That's how things work. We get with the times.

any ways......I believe that we should all get along. I plead this to both conservatives and liberals as well as moderates. We all have different views. That's what diversity is all about. That's why we have so many religions on this earth. We need to avoid the Erisian trap of "I am right and you're wrong" and "you better be on my side or you're my enemy". We don't have to be torn between factions and be forced to choose. We can just agree to disagree and respect each other's differences. I wish a lot more people in USA would do that. Heck..I wish a lot more people on our planet would do that.

No, you haven't. You've been nothing but polite and kind.

It's obvious you have a good heart, Glaucus. I'm glad you're here.

>> that people should express their views without being condescending and patronizing.

Sorry don't agree.People must be allowed to be individuals and express their opinions freely - ofcourse following the forum regulations.

You are dividing yourself by saying you haven't been condescendent. But what you supress comes out as anger or something else in your private life . Who knows?

We must not overly parse peoples words.

And people are not born equal. They can be treated as equal before the law. Discussed this many times else where.

Mannu,

I will agree to disagree with you. You have your opinions and I have mine.

More than once you referred to people having low intelligence because they say things that you don't agree with. You have put patronized and condescended to people because they say things that you disagree with.
I haven't done that.

I am very passionate and intense person any way.

I have Sun in Scorpio, and that means that I have an intense, passionate self expression.

I also have Mercury and Venus in Scorpio in 3rd,and those are placement for intensity, passion too and its in the areas of communications. That indicates that I am passionate, intense communicator...especially with Mars squaring the Mercury-Venus in Scorpio conjunction. My Mars is in Aquarius, and so that can be placement of activism and concern for humanity that motivates me communicate about treating people equally. Mars is co-ruler of Scorpio with it dispositing my Sun,Mercury, and Venus. The humanitarian, activist nature is part of my self expression, communications, and values. My Jupiter-Neptune in Sagittarius in 3rd is about the broadminded communications of idealism. It is also "the big picture" thinking as well as thinking in pictures(I am primarily a picture thinker). It is also very philosophical, spiritual combination in the areas of communication. My Moon is in Pisces which is also a idealistic, spiritual placement. It is mainly feelings of one-ness,unity..the mystical. Jupiter-Neptune disposits my Moon, and so idealism, philosophy is part of my emotional nature. Sagittarius is also the sign associated with cultures...my Jupiter conjunct IC in Sagittarius fits with my multicultural, multiethnic roots. I have a strong belief that we humans should be in unity and love each other...in other words,I believe that we should all get along. I believe in my fellow Pisces Moon Dr. Martin Luther King Jr's Dream.

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr was also a very passionate man with his Moon in Pisces square the opposition of Saturn in Sagittarius and Mars in Gemini. That indicates his spiritual, idealistic feelings in conflict with rigid philosophy and passionate communicates. That fits with his fighting racism.

I,myself have Moon in Pisces square the opposition Jupiter-Neptune in Sagittarius in 3rd and Saturn in Gemini in 9th. I feel that my t-square has to do with my own spiritual, idealistic feelings in conflict with rigid views and big picture thinking...That indicate that my belief in unity and universal love conflict with the rigid philosophies and picture picture thinking. That also fits with my being in idealistic in that I wish that we all love each other and be in unity, but I am realistic to know that racism is a problem. I believe in order to resolve racism,we have to ackowledge reality...then dissolve the racial boundaries. This is natural for me with my own multiethnic heritage, being born from an interracial relationship and I manifest through my own interracial relationships, interracial dating, interracial friendships, and my overall belief in racial equality. We all are the same because we are all human beings. My Moon in Pisces conjunct Mars in Aquarius square Neptune indicates my passionate idealistic feelings connected to humanitarian ideals.

Alluding to Amos 5:24, King once said "No, no, we are not satisfied, and we will not be satisfied until justice rolls down like waters and righteousness like a mighty stream."

Justice did roll down and blacks and whites are equal before the law. Isn't Obama running for the office?

I do take the side of intelligence (i.e becoming an object) and try to see foolishness in facts(subject). I also switch sides and try to become a fool and see the intelligence in the facts. It is the only way to transcend both in my humble opinion and see the divine truth or wisdom or whatever you wanna call it. For others it may be a philosophy but thats how I live.

Stupid/Intelligent are also different aspects of the same coin, just as everything else we observe from the dualistic mind of ours. Even Good/Bad, socialism/capitalism, death/life, sadness/hapiness, sorrow/joy, hate/love, etc...

Anyhow, how could we ever remain the same when we collide with each other? There is energy transfer at subtle levels. I get something of you and you get something of me.

Listen, we are all on different paths single mindedly trying to figure out the purpose of life. Wherever we are at the moment, I think that it is helping us in our buddhahood. What you learn today by helping others will be useful to you and others when you yourself become a buddha someday and wish to help others. A selfish person cannot help others even if he becomes a buddha some day. He will not know how to reachout to people. However note that there is no qualification to become a buddha. It can happen to anyone.

I have defended myself and doubly attacked people who attacked me first. I didn't see color of the skin who attacked me. And I can't speak for them but I am sure they didn't either. I try not to get attached to my actions. I believe, there is more to life than titles of 'czar', 'the great one' , etc... I condemn and I praise. I am a free man and can choose to do either at my convenience within limits ofcourse. If other people are offended, then they can skip my posts. They have that freedom, don't they? Look at the children. When they fight , their fight is from ignorance. Hence there is no winner when there is finger pointing and an adult was to decide one. And look at adults when they fight. Most times the fight involves ego from each side and hence the finger pointing follows. At times, some do observe innocense i.e when sages are fighting. In politics it is always a battle of egos. Sometimes such battle produce something new. Martin Luther wouldn't have started protestant faith if he didn't go against the dominating catholic pope. Its all together different story that I don't agree with his faith.

Mannu,

First of all, I respect your intelligence and your beliefs to a point as long as you are not condescending and patronizing.
Second, I am that people have given you a hard time and accused you unfairly of certain things. Politics can be a very touchy subject, and so there can be fierce disagreements. The same goes for religion. I definitely avoid religious debates which I feel are meaningless for people can't convert people to the religions they are fighting for.

I also want to acknowledge that just because me and some others have liberal political views doesn't mean that we think are better than anybody nor do we think conservatives are wrong for what they believe in. I pretty much approach differing political views just like I approach religious views - to each,his/her own. I use that approach with Astrology too.

any ways...I apologize if out of my own passion and intensity, I have given you hard time in any way.

We Americans are definitely in a very critical period.
We disagree with each other about who is better to lead our country and put it on the right track.
What it comes down to is that we want what's best for our country.
No matter who is elected, we will end up working with each other and not against each other.
United we stand, divided we fall.

that's all

Peace

Oh please don't worry. I try not to get attached to this world but see it as an outsider and give my opinions. Then you don't get tired and learn more and more about our universe.

BTW I too have a mars in Leo and I can be very intense at times.
