From a distance the world looks blue and green,
and the snow-capped mountains white.
From a distance the ocean meets the stream,
and the eagle takes to flight.

From a distance, there is harmony,
and it echoes through the land.
It's the voice of hope, it's the voice of peace,
it's the voice of every man.

From a distance we all have enough,
and no one is in need.
And there are no guns, no bombs, and no disease,
no hungry mouths to feed.

From a distance we are instruments
marching in a common band.
Playing songs of hope, playing songs of peace.
They're the songs of every man.
God is watching us. God is watching us.
God is watching us from a distance.

From a distance you look like my friend,
even though we are at war.
From a distance I just cannot comprehend
what all this fighting is for.

From a distance there is harmony,
and it echoes through the land.
And it's the hope of hopes, it's the love of loves,
it's the heart of every man.

It's the hope of hopes, it's the love of loves.
This is the song of every man.
And God is watching us, God is watching us,
God is watching us from a distance.
Oh, God is watching us, God is watching.
God is watching us from a distance.

25 years and my life is still
Trying to get up that great big hill of hope
For a destination
I realized quickly when I knew I should
That the world was made up of this brotherhood of man
For whatever that means

And so I cry sometimes when I'm lying in bed
Just to get it all out, what's in my head
And I, I am feeling a little peculiar
And so I wake in the morning and I step outside
And I take A deep breath and I get real high
And I scream from the top of my lungs,
What's goin' on

And I say hey.... hey....
I said hey, what's goin' on
And I say hey.... hey....
I said hey, what's goin' on

Ooh, Ooh, Oooohh, Oooohh, what's up...
Ooh, Ooh, Oooohh, Oooohh, what's up...

And I try, oh my God, do I try
I try all the time in this institution
And I pray, oh my God, do I pray
I pray every single day FOR A REVOLUTION!

And so I cry sometimes when I'm lying in bed
Just to get it all out, what's in my head
And I, I am feeling a little peculiar
And so I wake in the morning and I step outside
And I take deep breath and I get real high
And I scream from the top of my lungs,
WHAT'S GOIN' ON!!

And I say hey.... hey....
I said hey, what's goin' on
And I say hey.... hey....
I said hey, what's goin' on
And I say hey.... hey....
I said hey, what's goin' on
And I say hey.... hey....
I said hey, what's goin' on

Ooh, Ooh, Oooohh, Oooohh, what's up...

25 years and my life is still
Trying to get up that great big hill of hope
For a destination

Imagine there's no heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today...

Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace...

You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one

Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world...

You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will live as one

Nice sentiments, but there is an old belief in Hinduism that if life on Earth becomes too peaceful and harmonious that the creator (Brahma) will be so bored that he'll put an end to everything, and start all over again. I happen to believe them.

it's hard to be a dreamer, so if we are told that it signals the end of the world then where are we going? no offence StarLover33. i don't question this saying. i just mean that nothing should stop us from being dreamers and woken up idealists. look only in this section "global unity" and u'll see that only inflammatory thread get replies, and some around here know more than other how to be disdainful. if they're happy this way, so be it. myself, i'm a dreamer and happy this way, too.

it's easier to be conventionally unconventional than unconventionnally conventional...

The only thing certain in life is death and taxes - Mark Twain.

So be informed about your government so that you can pay less taxes and with that saved money do things like : buy good books, go for high speed internet, see that great orchestra performance or a broadway show, etc etc. i.e. become more and more wise about this world which we have been born to experience. And most importantly try to find out how to be eternal, if you know you will die some day. Yeah go beyond Brahma and Voltaire's God LOL.

Voltaire:

God gave us the gift of life; it is up to us to give ourselves the gift of living well.

God is a comedian, playing to an audience too afraid to laugh.

God is not on the side of the big battalions, but on the side of those who shoot best.

I have never made but one prayer to God, a very short one: "O Lord make my enemies ridiculous." And God granted it.

If God did not exist, it would be necessary to invent Him.

Illusion is the first of all pleasures.

To believe in God is impossible not to believe in Him is absurd.

Perhaps you are referring to Voltaire's last quote. I think he is making a case against atheists like Nietzsche's.

Forget about religion too and be religious as commented above viz sing , dance, work, etc etc. Who is singing, who is dancing, who is working? The God in Man or the Man in God?

Mannu What I meant by quoting Nietzsche was to imply that we are all responsible for our actions whether God exists or not.
What I think Nietzsche meant by 'God' was our concept of 'God' and how our diversity has divided us.

I agree. Nietzsche was a great mystic -- and he did kill our old concept of God.

But he stopped there. He could have explored further and found the real God.

Yeah, Nietzsche and Marx. Marx claimed he killed God.

Perhaps Nietzsche believed Marx. In any event, I'll bet Nietzsche was hoping Marx was telling the truth shortly before his death in 1900.

MANNU fROM ONE OF YOUR RECENT POSTS, "All reasons are man made.
There is only cause-effect in the world. You reap what you sow. Every effect has to have a cause.

Capitalism -> socialim -> communism -> anarchism. It is the eternal drama of life"

TO A LARGE DEGREE This is what I meant by quoting --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
God is dead according to Friedrich Nietzsche.
So...
We only have ourselves to believe in now.

We do see things alike whether you care to admit it or not.

Can I ask you what your opinions is of atheism?

Atheists: They believe they don't belong with us in this universe

They are the homeless in my mind but really aren't

Oh I agree with you on that. God does not have eyes, hands, ears, nose, tongue and skin. We are his people experiencing the multidimensional universe.

However , it goes more than the nuances which I will get in to later on.

Or her if you desire. She is like the Genie in the bottle. Can appear to you anyway that you want.

BTW, they carried out the experiments in quantum mechanics and noticed that the pattern of electron collected on a screen is influenced by the presense or absense of the observer. Bohr and Einstein had great arguments on that. Einstein was even called out of touch by his peers.

If only for World War Einstein could have worked on his ideas and theories and proved them. Imagine where we would be now if his creative mind had not been halted by war and nuclear bombs

But perhaps his genius as Einstein reached a pinnacle. He overlooked the works of his peers.

Some one has to be more genius than him to carry on where he left behind.

Yes but I don't think that will happen whilst tv and the current school system saps creativity.
It seems like there is no room for idealsim ideas any more.
