I have no idea how that one came up.

My GUESS is that the 1% were of the type that blame Jews for everything, don't like Obama and see that he's powerful, and so figure he must be Jewish, QED. That's the best I can come up with.

But then, me and those I know personally have never been polled on things like this, so I have to even wonder who they're asking in the first place.

Personally I think the Jewish connection comes from Hilary Clinton. Why did Obama made her secretary of State? I did hear him say at one rally how he owed his campaign to her and how he was paying back a favour somehow.

Isn't Hillary Clinton a Methodist?

And there are other reasons to choose her, especially given the rest of his choices (she fits right in).

I mean she is an ally of Israel. I take my last post back as it does not constitute a Jewish connection.

There is no right in war.

Dervish that wasn't the video I was highlighting, it was the one underneath it, 'the jewish connection' but for some reason it is no longer active.

A faux pas on my part

I think I found your video on YT (catch it before it goes!):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tT3iQ9Wh-FY

For when that YT vid is deleted, here's the CNN story it linked to describing the vid:
http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/10/13/great.schlep/index.html

If the facts in the vid are true, then yes, there's a very strong connection (as opposed to him being Jewish).

But I'm not sure it matters, because many others--from Hillary to McCain--were pretty firmly in the pro-Israel, anti-Iran/Hamas camp for their own reasons. McCain because conservatives have long seen Israel as an ally against Commies (traditionally) and Muslims (and many radical Christian fundies that have pull with people like McCain have reasons relating to Bible prophecy to support Israel & oppose Islam or some such, too) while Hillary has always been something of a war hawk over ideals. For example, in the 90s, Hillary urged Bill to strike at the Taliban for how women in Afghanistan were treated, so given that, and contrasting to how women are typically treated in Israel vs. Palestine and by Hamas, the side she supports is also not a surprise. (She struck me as almost eager to take on Iran, too.)

That, and the protests against Israel include plenty of Jews with signs "not in my name" and the like. Even Jews have their own factions that disagree with each other, and I'm sure they disagree with each other on how best to resolve their problems in Israel now. So being connected to the Jewish community doesn't necessarily mean that you're going to support everything Israel does (anymore than being Jewish--or even an Israeli--means you'll automatically support everything Israel does).

But that Obama is going to take Israel's side...yeah, I'm convinced. But I'd have guessed that anyway.

Dervish I understand that being Jewish does not mean that you support ANY war that Israel participates in.
In Israel 90% supported the war on Gaza at the beginning and I'm sure that percentage has changed now. How anyone could stand by and allow innocent children to die for their cause is beyond my compassion and comprehension. My posts are a frustrated effort at venting my absolute horror and digust that this violence has continued. It is not a war. The Palestinians do not have anywhere near the capabilities to defend themselves as Israel does.
