So far, the NEW way of doing government looks like death warmed over...like the 3rd term of the utterly corrupt Clinton Administration. This NEW way of doing government is full of Clintonista retreads.

So far, Hillary Clinton is Sec State. Hillary has more utterly corrupt screeching "GATES" than all the rest combined. Let's see...there's Cattle Gate, White Water Gate, Castle Grande Gate, Travel Gate, FBI records Gate, Billing Records Gate and Subpoena Gate just off the top of my head...and there's been cover-ups all over the US.

So far, Bill Richardson...Clintonista retread has had to withdraw his nomination due to a Federal investigation of his "pay to play" scandal in New Mexico.

So far, the NEW way of doing government has nominated a Clintonista thug from the Justice Dept to head Justice. Eric Holder acted as Castro's legal counsel..in fact..in getting the Gonzales boy returned to the tender mercies of Fidel Castro when his mother lost her life trying to get her son out of the Communist Worker's Paradise to safety in the United States. Holder was also responsible for the armed thugs sticking military assault weapons in the faces of the boy's family in Miami when he was snatched from their home.

Eric Holder also was primarily responsible for shepherding the pardons of murderous Puerto Rican terrorists through the system and getting them pardoned by Kommander Korruption. But, what the hell, Hillary needed that Puerto Rican vote for her run for Senator from NY.

Eric Holder was also responsible for shepherding the pardon of fugitive from justice Marc Rich through the system...in exchange for millions in donations to the demoscat party and of course, to Kommander Korruption's library. Now, this little thug is Attorney General of the United States.

So far, an income tax cheat has been nominated and approved for Sec of the Treasury...who heads..among other depts...The Internal Revenue Service. Imagine that, a tax cheat heading the IRS. If you did what this clown, Timothy Geithner did you'd be in prison for income tax evasion. But, exception must be made..says the O'Bomber administration...because Timothy Geithner is the only possible Treasury candidate who understands the financial mess America is in. Of course, Timothy Geithner is partly responsible for the collapse of the Federal Reserve bank..CitiCorp which is in the New York district of the Federal Reserve which the clown, Timothy Geithner headed. So far, the congressional clowns and Timothy Geithner have spent more than $350,000,000,000..that's 350 Billion dollars..of taxpayer money to head off the crises...and have yet to address the real cause...the collapse of the housing market caused by demoscat clowns in the Congress, the accounting and political scandal at Fannie Mae and the looting of Fannie Mae by other demoscat clowns...Franklin Raines, Jamie Goerlick and Tim Johnson...O'Bomber campaign advisers on the "Housing Markets". There are CEO's, CFO's and high level executives in prison who did essentially the same things the clowns did at Fannie Mae. Franklin Raines, Jamie Goerlick and Tim Johnson got huge bonuses by cooking the books at Fannie Mae..and they're walking free as birds. But wait, they're demoscats. Timothy Geithner also employed an illegal alien in his own home.

So far, Tom Daschle has been nominated for Health and Human Services Secretary. Tom Daschle is another tax cheat...who only a few years ago was railing about those who fail to pay their INCOME TAXES and demanding the IRS go after them with criminal prosecutions. My, my, my...how times have changed.

The new way of doing government looks suspiciously like the old financial and political corruption of the administration of Kommander Korruption.

Now that's REAL CHANGE everyone can believe in.

But wait, there's more, much, much more to come.

More TAX problems with O'Bomber's appointments. O'Bomber and the clowns he's surrounded himself with can't do a simple vetting exercise on people he's nominated.

This guy isn't qualified to be dog catcher of Poo-dunk but, he's the so called leader of the "free world". I would say...not for long. It's already time to impeach O'Bomber for his lack of judgement...before he destroys the United States...and the "free world".

Official: Performance czar withdraws candidacy

Feb 3 10:41 AM US/Eastern
By MICHAEL J. SNIFFEN and LIZ SIDOTI
Associated Press
Second Major Obama Administration Nominee to Withdraw

WASHINGTON (AP) - Nancy Killefer, who failed for a year and a half to pay employment taxes on household help, has withdrawn her candidacy to be the first chief performance officer for the federal government, the White House said Tuesday.
Killefer was the second major Obama administration nominee to withdraw and the third to have tax problems complicate their nomination after President Barack Obama announced their selection.

"Nancy Killefer has decided to withdraw her nomination, and we accepted her withdrawal," Tommy Vietor, a White House spokesman, said Tuesday. The 55-year-old executive with consulting giant McKinsey & Co., was expected to explain her reasons for pulling out later in the day.

When her selection was announced by Obama on Jan. 7, The Associated Press disclosed that in 2005 the District of Columbia government had filed a $946.69 tax lien on her home for failure to pay unemployment compensation tax on household help.

Since then, administration officials refused to answer questions about the tax error, which she resolved five months after the lien was filed. Obama's first choice for commerce secretary, New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson, took his name out of consideration when his confirmation appeared headed toward complications because of a grand jury investigation over how state contracts were issued to political donors.

More recently, Timothy Geithner was confirmed as Treasury secretary despite belatedly paying $34,000 in income taxes, and Tom Daschle is still waiting to see if his late payment of more than $128,000 in income taxes will harm his nomination to be health and human services secretary.

On paper, Killefer brought impressive credentials to the two jobs Obama selected her for: deputy director for management at the Office of Management and Budget, which requires Senate confirmation, and a new White House post, chief performance officer for the entire federal government, which does not require confirmation.

Killefer oversees McKinsey's management consulting for government clients. During 1997-2000 in the Clinton administration, Killefer was assistant Treasury secretary for management. As such she was the chief financial officer and chief operating officer for the Treasury and its 160,000 employees and led a modernization of its largest component, the Internal Revenue Service.

But for nearly a month, the administration had refused to answer how its choice to make government workers more efficient and more responsive had bungled her household payroll taxes.

The AP reported that on March 7, 2005, the D.C. Department of Employment Services slapped a tax lien on her home in the tony Wesley Heights neighborhood. The local government alleged that just three years after she left the high-powered Treasury post she began to fail to pay unemployment compensation tax for a household employee. And she failed to make the required quarterly payments for a year and half, whereupon a lien for $946.69 was placed on her home.

That sum included $298 in unpaid taxes, $48.69 in interest and $600 in penalties. The lien was filed March 7, 2005, but Killefer didn't get the lien extinguished for almost five months, not until July 29.

During that period, Killefer and her husband, an economics professor, had a teenage son and daughter, but she had two nannies and a personal assistant to run her life when she was on the road, she told Harvard business students back then.

Imagine, this guy was once the demoscat Majority Leader of the United States Senate...who demanded the IRS go after "Tax Cheats" with criminal prosecutions.

The voters and good citizens of South Dakota did America a good service when they booted this clown out of his Senate seat...but, Barack Hussein O'Bomber wanted to make Daschle Sec of Health and Human Service...no doubt to impose a socialist health care system on America. Good riddance.

Daschle withdraws as nominee for HHS secretary

He’s Out Too! Daschle Quits Bid for HHS Head

WASHINGTON (AP) - Tom Daschle has withdrawn his nomination to be Health and Human Services secretary.

That's according to a joint White House statement from President Barack Obama and his former nominee.

Obama said Tuesday he accepted the withdrawal "with sadness and regret."

Daschle has been battling for his nomination since it was disclosed he failed to pay more than $120,000 in taxes.

He said he's withdrawing because he's not a leader who has the full faith of Congress and will be a distraction.

i'm sorry but didn't bush inherit a huge surplus in the budget which has now turned into a trillions-deep hole?

and mr new mexico did withdraw because of an investigation, yes, to keep the government's nose clean...more than sarah palin did when she was under investigation.

jwhop please visit my "if you were president" thread i would love to hear your plans!!

Daschle/Geithner/Killefer Lessons Learned
Randall Hoven

Now that Tim Geithner has been confirmed as Treasury Secretary, Tom Daschle has withdrawn as HHS Secretary and Nancy Killefer has withdrawn from some government post I had never even heard of (chief performance officer?), we can infer some new rules in our changed government.

1. It is OK to cheat on taxes, but of course there is a limit. And that limit is more than $34,000 but less than $128,000 in taxes owed if you are a Democrat. (For Republicans, the limit remains the perception of thinking about adding $100 to your charitable deductions without the receipts to back it up.)

2. We now have a new way to get tax cheats to not only pay up, but to apologize for their errors and carelessness: nominate them to Cabinet posts. We've already collected $162,000 and public apologies from just two tax cheats that way. Nancy Killefer is a third, but I don't know the amount. Perhaps Charlie Rangel or William Jefferson should be nominated to replace Daschle.

3. We might have a new method to elicit information and apologies from enemy combatants without resorting to torture, sleep deprivation, stress positions or defiled Korans: nominate them to Cabinet posts. It's too bad we already waterboarded Khalid Sheikh Mohammed; we might have obtained his confession and plans of other terrorist attacks simply by offering him the position of Secretary of Defense.

4. When we are desperate enough (as in the current economic crisis, or at any time in the last 80 years), neither competence nor ethics matter in a nominee as much as speed of confirmation. If you either can't do your own taxes correctly, or refuse to do them honestly, you can still be put in charge of tax audits and collection. If we ever have a crime crisis, for example, Charles Manson stands a good shot to head the FBI.

5. Of course one lesson is the obvious one: if you thought "change" meant getting competent and honest people with no ties to special interests into influential government positions, you can now consider yourself suckered. I put the lesson this way: you vote for a Wizard, but you get a man behind a curtain.
http://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2009/02/daschlegeithnerkillefer_lesson.html

The Chief Performance Officer nominee, Killefer, couldn't manage her own personal affairs; let alone the affairs of the government of the United States.

The official LindaLand misogamist...he knows who he is....would say she needs to stay home and take care of the affairs of her family.

I would say anyone who aspires to a top position in the government of the United States should manage their personal life and affairs in an exemplary manner. That means they should not attempt to cheat local or state governments or the federal government out of the taxes they owe. It also means they should not break the laws of the United States, local ordinances or state laws. If they can't live up to the rules and laws others..citizens are forced to keep, then they are totally unfit for any office...city, county, state or federal.
That would also include Charlie Rangel, Chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee, who cheated the Feds out of the taxes he owed...and Rangel is in charge of writing the tax code for the Federal Government.

The saddest part is that they're the party of taxes. If Republicans in the same positions were caught cheating on their taxes, no matter how small an amount, it would be "expected from those greedy, selfish" people and no excuses would suffice. But folks in the Democratic Party? Those guys and gals who want more and more taxes (and that includes tax credits pretending to be tax cuts)? Oh, no. No problem. $120,000 you say? Bah. No big deal. Your "expertise" surely outweighs your lack of ethics and hypocrisy. Just say you're sorry and anyone who calls you out is just being "unfair".

Oy. I need more popcorn.

I'm also waiting for all those we-love-socialism-but-will-never-call-it-that celebrities to start signing their fat checks to the IRS, willingly and without any strategies to lower their taxes, any day now. Why be exempt when the obvious and intelligent solution to any national problem is to throw more money at the government? They'll responsibly bail out the needy, surely. Another private jet anyone?

This bailout, excuse me, stimulus package situation gets more and more hilarious. "Maybe if we do it faster it won't look so bad" seems to be the logic. Sadly, like bad dancing, it looks just as bad no matter how fast you go about it. An exaggerated sense of urgency will never totally outweigh obvious mediocrity and old fashioned stupidity.

well i have to agree. everyone must know by now that if rich people didn't have access to so many loopholes we wouldn't need to raise taxes. i have never been in favour of higher percentages for higher incomes. just bloody well pay 10% of the vast majority of money owned by the 2% of the population and we'd be swimming in gravy.

i don't know why everyone is so surprised that politicians cheat on their taxes. politics has become a game unwinnable except by cheats! the only difference is in how it is done really...

and if YOU thought change meant honesty in washington it will take a revolution or a LONG TIME to accomplish that. no president is capable - or has enough time - to clean up the whole scene.

and lest anyone equate me with the weathermen or think i am stirring for a revolution i am just THINKING, not advocating the overthrow of the government or violence or anything of the sort. a quiet revolution however, in consciousness and people's owning their own power, is another matter.

i remember joan baez refusing to pay tax to (was it the phone company) because she did not want to contribute to military funding. i remember her husband went to jail, but not she herself...or is my memory shot??

I should have named this thread.."Amateur Hour at the White House" but I guess I'm stuck with "It's a Circus". Actually, it's both.

A tax cheat in every corner. How does O'Bomber keep finding them?

Better yet, why does O'Bomber keep nominating tax cheats to his cabinet and to high level jobs in his..so far..clownish administration?

More Tax Problems: Labor Pick Solis Cancels Hearing
Thursday, February 5, 2009 3:06 PM

A Senate committee today considering President Barack Obama's nomination of Rep. Hilda Solis to be labor secretary was abruptly cancelled – apparently because of a report saying that her husband yesterday paid tax liens against his business that were 16 years old

Solis’ husband paid about $6,400 to settle tax liens against his business, according to USA Today. The report came just before the Senate's Health Education Labor and Pensions Committee was slated to meet to consider Solis's nomination.

The session had already been delayed once by questions over her role on the board of the pro-labor organization American Rights at Work. A source said that committee members did not learn about the tax issue until today.

"Today's executive session was postponed to allow members additional time to review the documentation submitted in support of Representative Solis's nomination to serve in the important position of Labor Secretary," read a joint statement issued by Sen. Edward M. Kennedy (D-Mass.), the panel's chairman, and Mike Enzi (Wyoming), the committee's ranking Republican. "There are no holds on her nomination and members on both sides of the aisle remain committed to giving her nomination the fair and thorough consideration that she deserves. We will continue to work together to move this nomination forward as soon as possible."

No new date has been set for the hearing. The disclosure about Solis's husband comes in the wake of tax problems that caused trouble for three of Obama's top appointees, leading two of them -- HHS-nominee Tom Daschle and Nancy Killefer, who was to be chief performance officer -- to withdraw

NOW its a crime to PAY what you owe! take a time out jwhop...did she force her husband to cheat? oh, i get it, HE is going to be doing the job!!

my dad listened to his accountant and was rewarded by having an IRS investigation slapped on him. because he claimed a loss on the entire contents and house we had been living in for 10 years.

long story short when he died of a heart attack(knowing my dad he was probably panic-stricken by this suit amongst other things) they slapped a lien on my mom's house even though they had been separated for 3 years and she had nothing to do with his accounts or taxes.

she did WIN that case (her appeal took years), and lots of people fight them, therefore, it can be years before a resolution or payment happens.

if you are unable to pay your full bill for any reason the IRS can put a lien on your assets...if they haven't called it in they have their reasons which YOU know nothing about!

i'm NOT saying these people aren't cheats, but you are jumping to conclusions here, all the while calling others amateurs?

politics IS a circus, you are so right.

The others are, imo, certainly cheats but I don't think Solis should be automatically shotdown because of her husband. It certainly doesn't reflect well on her, though. If some appointed person's husband was a murderer, I don't think their spouse would be thought of as equally guilty automatically, either. But, again, it would reflect poorly on their judgement, even if they claim they "didn't know". Politics is sadly much about reputation and they are or should be held to higher standards with much if not full disclosure.

I don't know if Obama knowingly appointed tax cheats in each situation but, particularly at this time and with such a grotesque social spending bill trying to be passed off as a stimulus plan which only means more taxes for the rest of us, I cannot imagine a worse misstep than this. And that's giving the benefit of the doubt, ie. that he didn't know.

These appointments are a joke, his comments about limiting lobbyists were a joke, and this $900+ billion bill is the biggest joke of all. And, btw, those are things that he DID have control over now, not things that would take years to change. They were his appointments and his decisions.

And, even if he didn't feel qualified to draft the bill himself, he could at least have had the integrity to stand up to Pelosi and Friends and slam this monstrosity of a bill down. It has nothing to do with stimulating the economy. It is full of pork ... pork that some of these particular Dems have not been able to sneak through the past 12 years or so.

Banking? Housing? Creating jobs? No, the bill has money set aside for Pell Grants, STD prevention, and a friggin' golf course! Most of the money would be spent 4 years from now ... only what? 17% would be spent this year. I don't care if anyone thinks if STD prevention is a worthy cause for our tax money but it is definitely not intended to STIMULATE the ECONOMY.

And if anyone should be disappointed, it is the people who voted for Obama. This is not revolutionary change we're talking about. It's about making a REASONABLE decision to stimulate the economy over wasting our money on social spending ... and it is something he does have the power to affect right now. It's not like getting rid of programs that have failed or decreasing the size of the government which would reasonably take years. The change-won't-happen-overnight mantra doesn't apply in this situation because the economy very recently tanked, this spending bill is brand spanking new and it is ultimately his responsibility. You can't just suddenly decide to waste 1 trillion dollars and then blame it on your predeccessors or the "system".

He still has a chance to make it right and if he does stand up to those pork barreling pigs in Congress he will definitely have earned not just my respect but the respect of the overwhelming majority of Americans who are against this bill, no matter what their party lines are.

my point was not just that it is not solis herself who was involved, but that we have no info on WHY there was a lien on her husband. and don't tell me we do because that is private information...

liens can be placed by the irs for any number of reasons and even before someone is convicted of wrong doing. they can be appealed and therefore payment may be years after the lien was attached...generally if they think you are taking to long to pay and you are not involved in active dispute about it, they will just take their due. if he has had a lien on his business for 16 years there must be some reason the IRS did not move in on him...
