Hey fellow Knowflakes,
I am doing a "Final Project" for my lit class, and I chose to do an analysis of poetry, selecting of course, our beloved Linda(with my open-minded Pisces prof's OK). One of the parts of the assignment was to parody one of the ten poems we had selected for our analysis, and here's mine:

Don’t Get Messed Up with a Music Major if You Can’t Stand the Noise
(a parody of Don't Get Messed Up with a Fire Sign if You Can't Stand the Heat)

Dear special forever soul mate,
(and I still feel for you
even if you can’t hum in tune)

I spend too much time in a practice room
perfecting those 64th notes and bass clefs
to give you much time in my day

I would wake you up a lot at dawn
doing marching steps with my band uniform on
Then other morns
I’d stay in bed until nine
dreaming of parades gone by, and those perfect lines

You could never hope after the days I am gone
I’ll return with flowers or cards
I barely recall dates but the days of my concerts
Please don’t let your pride become marred

Flying for hours each vacation week
to stop and visit your family
spending time in their guest room
well, I’d fall into gloom
My director admires my dedication studying musical technique
He needs my help tutoring last chair kids and selecting songs
Without my presence over the breaks, he would feel very meek

My heart beats in tempo-standard 4/4 and true
Yours is tangled in silly science and philosophy
So since we are too far apart in goals
Our mutual affection should remain as coals
I’ll remember you when I dedicate my symphony

and maybe we’ll meet again when dreams are free

While we’re tacet, it’s your soul I seek

Now all I have left to do is analyze her style and techniques, long with typical/halmark features...then do my presentation tomorrow morning. Wish me luck!

Thanks everyone. I will let you know how the grading turns out, but it was also based on the oral presentation I did, on Linda, the New Age movement, and as an example of most of her "hallmarks", I presented "Challenge", from Gooberz....I think I confused a few people. A fellow classmate said, afterward, that from what I had said, Linda sounded like a hypocrite, since she criticized others for their dependancy on "facts and faith", but yet she based most of her argument on the same. I couldn't think of a way to respond to him right then and there, but later realized I could have said, that Linda did base her arguments on facts and faith, I don't deny this, but she did take into account and closely examine the ways of astronomy and science before forming her opinions, while "they" refused to do the same, which is what truly angered her.

Well...today found out that my overall final exam grade was a "B+", including both my presentation, and the skit I did with a classmate. I am pleased.
