There was a pact.
Both unspoken and spoken
whispers and screams
soul to soul
mind to mind
body to body
journeying through fires and pyres,
we chipped off little bits
through time and illusion
we broke the pact
was there time to get it back?
Was there time to mend the pieces, though solder has lead to seep into the blood
and poison us
and broken parts never do look the same in the light.
But the sacred darkness where our dreams fell upon each other's lips
where our moans fell into the heavy air and the shadows lessened the sharpness
and it all fell away
we took a little back
and had to be reminded when the sun crept in,
it is here that it begins
Was there time, and I rushed it out?
Was there time to doubt our doubt?
And now we both have lived without.....
for so long
that it seems
unreal
like some illusion we forced ourselves into
or some tale we tell starring other people
pretending it was the truth
distorted by our perceptions and
misconceptions
distorted by our so-called right directions
We laughed and loved and hated and cried and lied and tried and stopped and dropped
all thats left is to keep pretending that I know you
though I don't
and you know me
though you don't
and the air will churn
sometimes eyes will burn
and sometimes memories feel a little truer
when I step away from our mutual sewer
