Hi everyone,

This is a piece I wrote in 2002. I wrote it for my sweetheart and he has encouraged me to share it with you.

Sun of Spring

The buried seeds asleep
in their earthen catacomb
thrust upward by some higher force.
They rupture their shells and
split the crust of their tomb.

The sun of Spring
calls them forth,
like the voice of a lover
awaiting their embrace.
The Sun’s caressing warmth
evokes a response of new life
and freshness upon the earth,
and she stretches in her waking.

Living greenery
and shoots and buds
are eager to experience
this transfiguration.
They bloom with beautiful
artistic splendor,
no longer imprisoned
in the dark and dormant.

Their impassioned greeting
of the sun of Spring,
this hot,
growing life force,
echoes out a call
to all of creation.

An overture of beauty;
the blooming of flowers
and return of birds
melts the frozen memory
of the cold tomb of winter.
The earth cries out,
intoxicated in wild love
as she responds
to the touch of the sun;
this primal remembrance
that she knew even before
she felt the sun’s arousal.

The call of Spring
whose name means
“First Truth”,
beckons to the earth’s womb
to assemble for the year’s rebirth.
New light,
returning warm espousal,
producing innocent green buds
unfolding their beauty and
opening new hope of life.
