Hrm...I disagree with the separation that the quote seems to portray by the words "but greater is the art of ending". How can something be greater when it is the same thing (the beginning and the end)? They are not two separate things, but one all-encompassing something. I just read that and decided to let myself get wisked away... lol IP: Logged |

They are essentially the same, but our perception makes them different. In perception, Beginings give way to TIME; They imply something spread out into the future. Endings suggest fruition and the Void; They leave you in the present moment. At least, thats how I would intepret that quote. But the opposite is also true, depending on how you choose to see it. Every insight has its time. "All is true." - Shakespeare

Great post!Great is the art of beginning. When I begin on a new work of art, the possibilities are rather endless. Greater is the art of ending. When my work is done, the endless possibilities have ceased to become possibilities. The one possibility that my work is expressed in now is. It may only go from where it has already been taken. Too many thoughts to even respond right now... Awesome. IP: Logged |

Thanks!Interesting, NosiS. I thought this guy had a few neat things to say about this, although he is taking the alternate position here. I think he is quoting Trungpa: "There is freedom in beginnings." Or maybe KRS-ONE, lol. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rqD2bGdYMW8
