She looked at his photograph
He had a broad grin on his face
As if she could still hear him laugh
But he was forsaken, what a disgrace!He went to that sorely troubled land
Darkness fell upon him, he could not flee
The dark messengers grabbed his aged hand
And said 'beware, for you may bleed'
He pleaded with the most powerful man
Of his country, for saving his life;
The man claimed 'we're doing everything we can'
But in fact, his dear life, was too high a price to pay
In the dark for Lord knows how many days
He realised he could no longer wait
The 'efforts' made by the men in power were but delays
In the town of Latifiya, he eventually met his fate
So today, all gathered to pray for his soul
Down on her face, her tears did slowly roll;
Wistfully, she looked at his photograph
As if she could still hear him laugh
