'Twas a foggy winter dream
As they walked along the stream
Oddly, the air wasn't cold but warm
As they approached that serene farm-Where they used to remain
Where they played in the refreshing rain
Where they both said 'I do'
Where out there was a magnificent view
This was Earth, this was Heaven;
All the joy and light were given
In bloom was the symbol of purity
Like a water lily, and in perfect harmony
The Earth was quaking, Heaven was burning
The wind was howling, a snowstorm was coming
Never, never come, awakening!
Once floating, now sinking
Beside her he peacefully slept
'He shan't awake!' now she wept
'Am I awake? Am I dreaming?
Was all this real, what we were feeling?'
'I'd rather not be awake,
He is not, for Heaven's sake;
May I leave this place and sleep,
For my beloved is resting deep.'
