I wash my hands
Wash my face
Dry them both
Only a day or two ago this was a chore
Not anymore
Things have changed since then
I have an audience with the King
A privilege very few may know
But now I know
I have been honored
In a very special way
Falling to my hands and knees
Lowering my face
I'm at the Throne
A humility there wells in me
How could I not have known
Of this before?
Of this gift before?
While the undeserved and sleeping
Wait outside the Castle door
I'm given this:
A chance to kiss the floor before my Lord
Twice a day to slip away
Twice a day prepare myself
But not as I had before
This is no chore
This, the grandest of all things
Is an audience with the King
And so the words begin to form
With a gratitude that never seemed to come before
"There is no god but God...there is no god but God"
I thank you Lord.
