They tossed the children sky high
And penetrated them with their weapons;
The southern city let out a sharp cry
As the land was soaked in blood for the invaders' 'holy reasons'

After the invaders were defeated
At their schools they somehow forget to mention the shame;
They avoid to face it
For the victims it was not a game!

The grandest nation in the East had now fallen
Into the hands which held the red flag;
The culture was dead, freedom was forbidden
Families torn asunder, books burnt, the rich had to wear a tag

That said 'I am guilty and I am to be punished'
Brainwashed youngsters betrayed their parents for the chairman's sake;
This was where the hard-built democracy, in the decades to come, eventually finished
At school they studied what was fake

A tiny land which is now deeply divided
The past is still there but the new government wants to deny
Condemning just about everything the former rulers did
Citing 'They arrived here only to occupy'

They are re-educating the young
Re-writing the past and making them ignorant
Of what is right and wrong;
Using all their might to ensure the past goes silent

They all have been doing it this way
About what actually happened then;
At the end of the day
History is written by men

As I've said, I love history. Yet, I hate the way history is abused by politicians.

The first two paragraphs are about the Nanking Holocaust and how the Japanese covered up (they still do) their evil deed.

Sheaa Olein, the book is highly recommended, but my poem was not based on it. I've watched documentaries about the Nanking Holocaust and the eight-year Sino-Japanese War (which was started by a false Japanese accusation and which took place before the Chinese Civil War). I've seen how the Japanese tossed Chinese people, including infants, then murdered them with their swords. They had claimed that they were to defeat China within as short as three months; they made women in other Asian countries (including those from China and from Korea) sex slaves for the Japanese soldiers' pleasure and yet to this day they refuse to compensate; they choose not to face the reality. They are not a decent people in this respect. Or rather, it's all because of those damn politicians.
