there is a place
the memory of which
haunts my slumbering dream self
it's been long since a waking visit
what is written off as a world better left
to the whacko, loonies, crazies and druggies
best abandoned by those who would walk amongs the rest
seeming as one of the many
when truly this other place
this world rushing in your ears
screaming through your veins
stoking the fire of the flesh
is less the domain of madness
than the one purported to be the sanctuary of the sane

i cannot remain
the bubbling brook beckons to me
they have errected cold cutting wires
signs stating No Tresspassing! abound

yet the wire rusts and a sign has fallen
the sagging wire cannot truly bar my passage
the sign will sink into the ground, eaten by Her
the bubbling brook bordered by boulders
shall remain

there seems to be a place
so familiar it is as if i had left it only a moment ago
rocks arranged by the rushing water
seeming a seat made just for me to nestle perfectly among
i take my place here where i hoped for solitude
though instead i was reminded by magpie
that i am never truly alone
he watches as my tears mingle with the timeless flow

though i feel so far from that world of assfault and droning souls
not even the rushing water
can entirely wash away the sound of the passing somnambulists
sailing by just out of sight

funny how just being awake to the world
can activate your senses
in such a way that so frightens the sleepwalkers
they may try and lock you up
if they catch you
it's so important that you get your sleep, little girl

it's too late for me now
a tiny shiny little ball of black goo
found its way into my stomach
and now my feet have found their way
into the sweet soft cold caress of the lapping rapids
as they gurggle and burbble their way to distant shores of sea

i wonder if my tears travel so far as to one day mingle
with chalky grey remains of he who has gone ahead
beyond my reach
somewhere deep underwater
methinks they must
for that is what this crazy journey has shown me
no matter how alone i may wish to be at times
it is never so
all of creation forever surrounds me
envelops me
within and without
i breathe deep and in so doing
i am communed with all that breathes
and all that ever will breathe

Wow! You should write more often!

Wow, indeed!!!
Awesome! Awesome!
Imagery, movement, excellent use of timing and words. But more than that, it was a simply marvelous piece. (one that can't be broken down or analysed, it just is.)
