Cherub

Sweet cherub,
So innocent you remain,
Despite the horrors your soul has witnessed,
Through those porcelain eyes.
If only the truth could lie,
Then maybe they would believe it,
Because YOUR truth is never enough.

Your angelic face forever stays,
The perfect representation of your heart.
Your wings ever struggling to break through the mould,
Slowly chipping away, piece by piece.
"But what's that?" they say,
As they spot your horns through those paper wings,
And tear them to pieces.

One day, sweet cherub,
Your wings will be indestructable,
Your soul unbreakable.
And that porcelain shell that has been so familiar,
Will be in pieces on the floor,
Because YOU smashed it.
And the Cherub...that Angel,
Will finally fly free...
