It seems the seams are undone
not that a little lace should reveal
all
but I am drawn like a watercolour today
drawn out and in
like a worn print, fingered along the edges too many times
to keep count
hard wet palms pressed against the image so it smears
just a little
enough that I'd notice the imperfection
but enough that you'd only notice the sultry peek of colour
through the gathering creases
and maybe it was the smudge of your hand that made this impression
maybe it was my own.
Maybe they were touching as they do
when I stop looking enough to really see.

I am tight as a corset
breasts caged and raging
but I'm loose in the strands of hair that escape
from the solid hold of my heavy head
as it falls down following my eyes
and the wet tear I taste on my lips
it came when least expected
( though I should know by now that it's easy to make it come)
I am shrouded by the slip of shoulder
I rest my cheek against
I am fenced in defence
from this coiled body
and these mixed mind tricks.
