She believed those words
and let the beauty pass her
just to keep up with the world.

When she was past her youth,
a child asked her what
her favorite part of life was.
She had no words.

She always did what she was told
never questioning them.
In wonder, she watched the childs
eyes and saw everything
she had missed.

Tears fell as she pulled
the child close.
She knew there was truth in
the words from so long ago,
but she was now able to see
what was not right with them also.

Instead of telling the child
her favorite thing, she gave
the little one her biggest regret.

I regret not seeing the world
through your eyes.
I regret not knowing that the sky
holds so much more than it seems.
I regret never looking around
because I was so afraid that
I would miss something.

The child smiled a sad smile,
and hugged the lady closer.
You did miss something,
but it isn't what you think.
You missed the opportunity
to see the rainbows, and the clouds,
but you also missed the opportunity
to see God.

But you are forgiven.
He understands.
Just take the time
to look around the next time 'round
