Here is something I wrote today:

I do not like poetry,
I do not write poetry.

I don't care about rhyming
I care less about timing.

Poe, Dickinson, Whitman, Plath,
I'd rather go lounge in the bath.

I do not like poetry,
I do not write poetry.

Even less, I mind the verse.
Fragmented sentences are such a curse.

I enjoy textbooks and research essays.
Neither use hundreds of lines to describe sunshine rays.

I do not write poetry,
I do not type poetry.

*clapping* Haha!

I love your style VTT. It jives with my Virgo moon.

My sardonic Cappy rising loves it.

Though I do, for the most part, enjoy poetry, it gets annoying sometimes. LOL! I can take it in small doses. Or rather, depending on who the poet is.

You go my fellow earth goddess!!

Now, I must go soak in the tub.......

Hey 26T! I'm glad you liked it, it made me laugh as it came to my head. I keep re-reading it and I swear it sounds slightly like Dr. Suess's style. I'm extremely fussy when it comes to poetry, I don't really read it but I have a few I've kept from school, I particularly remember a litany by Allen Ginsberg.

Methinks the lady doth protest too much.

Thats a beautiful piece.
"Even less, I mind the verse."

You might like Proust.
There was a writer who could use a billion words to speak of sunshine rays,
and they would be too few.

You're a purist,
but you're not your average Virgo.
You're a purist in the way punk rock is pure.
Your rebellion is sincere.

,
Steve

I could be in denial I think I just haven't been turned onto poets that I really resonate with.

Thanks Steve! I'll have to check out Proust, I love simplicity. I've definitely heard it said before I'm not the average Virgo I also giggled that you said I'm a purist like punk rock is pure...as I fell right into punk a couple of years ago...pure with raw, loud, dirty energy.

I just fell into a daydream about all the shows I've been to haha. I should put that rebellion to good use, I have a lot of that energy floating around. It shouldn't be so wasted!

Hey, VTT... or should I bow down to you as *STANZA MASTER*

That piece by Ginsberg... was it "Howl"? We read that last quarter in English and my boyfriend stood up on the desk in his socks and did the first few pages before he ran out of steam and called it quits. Our professor still talks about the day he "channeled" Ginsberg. It was really quite a show! I only flinched over a few of the lines he was shouting...

Or maybe you haven't read "Howl" and it was something else... in that case, forgive my interjection!

Enjoyed your poem, by the way! I'd love to see more!
