It's worked for him before,
But now I cringed
As I taste the bile of his deception
Rising in my throat and say,
"Even your demeanor is a lie."
"Don't you see?" he cried,
"I did not think to myself,
'I will do this to hurt her.'"
And I returned, "No, you thought,
'I will do this even though
it will hurt her.'"
I watched him hold up his intention
like a shield
Hoping to deflect the stinging arrows
That my pain would fling.
I watched his intention grow pale
And weak at my gaze.
And still, I hurt
And still, he is a liar.
