Semblance of Sanity

Platitudes obsequious platitudes

Sparkling words shimmer
skim across the surfaces of murky uninviting pools
depths untold unwanted unexplored

Sugar-coated staccato spitfires
at times gently rolling off an acerbic tongue

Vapid smiles wash down the sweet succulent barbs
why does it have to be undressed untarnished

One truth I told you a million years ago
resonating endless shards of echoes
down the passage of your conscience

One lie cowering behind a million shimmery quicksilver truths

Platitudes, dress everyday in varying shades of candor
stripped down by nightfall to a naked ugliness by hungry clawing eyes

And yet they fool me everytime

Escape into Parallelism

Flashes of inspiration rays escaping windows and doors closely drawn blinds shut tight

Everything boxed in and clamped down

Tight claustrophobic freedoms boundless boundaries endless possibilities to oblivion

Why does the sweet morning freshness of this spring lakeside make me choke ...
reach out with flailing arms

Deep resonating gasps of fear poisoned air
relief short lived and reeking of guilt

Lonely shutters cobbled footsteps
Till a moment of stark, cold reality hits me in the face ...

The here and now of you and me, is all there is that matters now or ever after this

I loved those Maya, especially the second one! You have a great way of capturing subtle whispers of the heart and turning them into beautiful words. Its liberating to read them. You and Steve are already such beautiful sensitive people, but I think together you two are making more beautiful poetry than ever!!

Thanks LeoSweetHeart. You're right, his magic is responsible for most of my poetry. This one is abt our first meeting, which happened a few days ago.

I liked it

------------------
Happiness is like a butterfly.
The more you chase it,
The more it will elude it.
But if you turn your attention to other things,
it comes softly and sits on your shoulders...

maya,

you are deeper than I could ever pretend to hope to be

these poems communicate as much as words can, or have a right to

i know you are as speechless as I am,
but at least you make the effort, every time
